News TOMY Star Trek Diecast Ship Replicas

Got my shipment notice and should be here Monday. Then I'll get to judge for myself how this really looks up close.

So did I. Mine will arrive Saturday. I watched the YouTube videos so I don't think I will be too surprised ......:D......don't know if I will open right away I have to make space for it.

I can see not instantly opening it

. Do you have a link to the video?

lol, I don’t really have anywhere good to display it now either.

Also, I can’t recall if you posted it above, but apparently you can also display it with just the secondary hull stand (I probably won’t since I live in earthquake country).

Well, mine arrived today, and I just got around to opening the box.

Man, that sucker is BIG!

Weird thing so far: the instruction booklet is damp, but the outside of the box is perfectly dry? How does that happen.

Anyway, I’m going to try installing the batteries. Wish me luck!

What type batteries does it take and are a set included? Just wondering if I'll need to get some for when mine comes in tomorrow.

Well it came in today as promised and...

I have to say I really like it! For $600 it looks great. The screw caps don't really show unless you get right up to it and even then it's not very noticeable. The look of it (dimensions, colors, lights paint job, etc.) are also excellent. Still don't like the stand but it isn't as intrusive as I thought it would be. Not great but not a deal breaker. It is BIG & HEAVY!! The small details like the inside bridge and shuttle bay are nice added touches. All lit up really makes it stand out. The nacelle engine rotation/color is very well done and looks like it has flown out of my TV set from the '60s! Only negative so far is one of the screw caps from underneath the left nacelle fell out. Easy fix though. Again, for the price it is well worth it in my humble opinion.

Word on the street is that the bulky saucer stand isn't necessary for display, despite what the instructions say. As long as you are confident no one is going bump into it, or there is an earthquake, just the lower stand is needed. Basically the lawyers said they had to say to use it all the time, so if it does fall off on just the one stand, no one can complain.

Mine came a few days ago. Was gonna take picture but I have nowhere to set it up right now. It's looks really good. I do have a tiny chip on one top of the nacelles though near the front. I posted a pic of it at PFD. Not a big deal...

Mine came in today. I've opened the box but not taken it out of the packing yet.

I know it's not perfect but it was half the cost of my MR Enterprise and I think from across the room it will look better because it has a more accurate paint job. My biggest disappointment is not the seams or plugs (though they could certainly have been better placed) but the bright orange color of the nacelle domes. To me this is the feature the MR Enterprise got perfect--all the color on the dome should come from the lighting effects.

Now I just have to find a place to put it. Displaying two 32" Enterprises in the same house is not as easy as one might think when there's a wife to be considered.

My assumption is that's one of those things that people unconsciously expect, and if the proper dome was used folks would think it looks "wrong".

A secondary (or maybe primary, lol) is so the model doesn't always have to be turned on to have color.

My suspicion is that it's this way because the original 32" model was this way, but I still say when all the lights are out the bussards should be out (i.e. not orange) too.

Anyway, it's a minor point and I'm pretty happy with what I've seen so far.
