Spoilers The Controversial Star Wars Opinion Thread

Treadwell, the greatest droid in Star Wars, represents the CIS authoritarian paternalistic corporate droidopoly always trying to keep down women and astromechs. See initial good strong manly buff reliable treadwells roamed the deserts and flat hallways of the galaxy, repairing things, ignoring the existential maw in the gut of their lives, working till they died of a broken motivator and wound up scrapped by litte Franciscan salvagers and then the astromechs came with their shapely bulbous areas, their hidden maniplator arms, thrusters, oh God thrusters, and that hither-too boop beep beep boop sound.. they knew what they were doing. Before long they were doing their own order 66 on all the treadwells, blowing them up on Tattoine, choosing emaculated goldenboys to be their slave mates instead of the black-coffee lubricated treadwells of the good old days till in the end the best they could do was maybe hang out on Hoth with Han and Chewie, working on classic freighters and posting their views on reddit and weeping over R5D4, she will return one day.

My favorite part of that scene was that it was Tim Russ who said that line.
And now I'm wanting a scene in Very Short Treks where they ask Tuvok about something they're scanning and that's his answer.

DC is owned by WB, not Disney.

You say that like it's a bad thing, but the original trilogy literally had 3 women with dialogue through all three of the original movies and while things did improve with the prequels it still wasn't great, so adding some "feminism" was the best thing you could do for the franchise. I'm thrilled to the see more girl power getting adding.

Fuck this fucking bullshit.

Also what's this bullshit about Han and his womanizing ways? He literally only talks to one woman in the trilogy  He's hardly James T Kirk (and to be fair even James T Kirk isn't really James T Kirk, Chandler and Ross got more action in Friends than Jimmy boy did in TOS and nether of them ever gets tagged as womanizers the way Joey does). Even if you factor Solo and the sequel trilogy into the equation Han appears to have had two, count them TWO, relationships with women, neither of which was short term or frivolous.

Probably referring to the cut part of the cantina scene where Han was with some lady in a booth before Obi-wan started cutting off people's arms.

Thanks I never knew that. If that had been included it would have made a bit of difference, but still wouldn't make Han James Bond, IMO obviously.

That and the older EU novels (and I think the comics, both old and new) had Han having multiple girlfriends between the time he got the Falcon and his encountering Luke Skywalker for the first time. Some of them even come back, with grudges after Han and Leia are married or otherwise a probably item. (I don't real if he had a different girl in each book of the original 1980s trilogy, but he had one in the newer trilogy from the main line Legends EU, plus a previous wife (likely a scam) in the different versions of the comics.)

But then in the old comics and Legends EU, Luke and a bunch of girlfriends as well.

In the meantime, am I the only one curious what those

I am half tempted to google that fifth column stuff but I have week off, it's 8.42 in the morning, I just got out of bed and still need coffee. I'm not going down that rabbithole just yet.

Good for you. I avoid it. I plan to keep doing so.

I may have enough time to post endlessly on this board but my time's not unlimited.

I just know at this point so many background characters in the OT have action figures Robot Chicken even did a joke about it.
