Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or roll my eyes into the next state, at the notion that there are still people who believe this Taylor Swift / Travis Kelce thing is real and not a fake, staged publicity stunt.

I do not know what you are talking about???...You mean..,.it was a stunt...wait, no...

Perhaps all three?

It's amazing that anyone cares.

#swiftiescare :D

I mostly blame the NFL. They probably made the whole thing up just to boost sales of Chiefs tickets and Kelce jerseys.

I mean, it's not as if Taylor needs any more money at this stage.

They would never...:wtf:

Migleemo could be an Aurelian.

There are some Aurelians with wings (Aleek-Om from TAS) and some without (Adreek-Hu, Chakotay's XO from Prodigy).

Multiple other people have postulated this, but the fact that all three members of the species that we have seen in LDS all have a distinct appearance (green feathers, no wings, etc.) from any other ornithoids in the franchise seems to indicate that they're something new. Mike McMahan said on Twitter that the species will be named in S5, but it's hard to tell if he means that or is just joking.

EDIT: I just went ahead and scribbled something down. I settled on a civilian xenomusicologist with his own small vessel.

An item popped up in my Google feed regarding the use of the idiom "out of pocket." According to the article:

"For Millennials and Boomers, the term can mean they'll be away for part of the day and may be unreachable, like if they have a dentist appointment. For Gen Zers, the phrase means acting chaotically or out of hand -- so the idea of your manager being "out of pocket" for the afternoon has younger workers absolutely losing it."

My reaction was a huge "WTF??" For me, "out of pocket" refers to out-of-pocket expenses, i.e., things you pay for yourself. For example, I pay my dentist bills out-of-pocket because I don't have non-emergency dental coverage.

I have NEVER heard that phrase used in either of the two senses mentioned in the article. And frankly, neither of them seems to make much sense. "Out of pocket" meaning I'll be away for a short time? Out of whose pocket? What am I, a baby kangaroo?

What do you think "out of pocket" means?

We had a bit of a conversation around this one last year, starting in this post. Using that expression to mean "unreachable" seems to be more based on where you live or what your profession is, not necessarily what generation you're in.

In my previous investigation, I don't think I came across the "acting chaotically" definition, but perhaps that's related to the "saying or doing something inappropriate" definition?

Thinking back to the time I dragged a friend into a Hunan restaurant and ordered the most interesting thing on the menu I thought I could stomach. For the next 20 minutes or so she had to watch me eat from a fancy metal dish an entire pond's worth of frogs in nuclear hot sauce, while my face melted like Toht's.

"Nuclear Hot Sauce" would be a great name for a rock band.

And that sounds like the grasshoppers I ate in Seattle. Those were also extremely spicy. I was actually jumping up and down on the concourse at the Mariners game going "I need a beer!"

And yes, I did actually eat grasshoppers. They were delicious, but expensive. Probably wouldn't do it again.
