Reasonably lightweight after a lot of serious events, it definitely should not be seen out of order. Sometimes I wonder if the episode could have gone farther as it's a unique subject matter that still can have metaphorical allusions to real life situations we humans face, but it's a respectable entry, and early on in season 7's run.

An iconic and uplifting song, all due to the band being barred from entry into Studio 54 - which is somewhat ironic, as Chic helped define the very genre in the first place!! And Nile Rodgers really needs more visibility for his work in the industry; he's a legend I've the uttermost respect for... but there I go digressing again.

It handled all 3 stories well. DS9 was really adept at handling multiple stories within the same episode and not make it feel like it was too much.

Extreme Measures is saved. I didn't really enjoy the bromantic discussion during the "we're going to die" moment, but the test of it was trippy fun. And William Sadler, the guy who manages to steal scenes from Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins in "The Shawshank Redemption" is always welcome.

Fun fact: this winner and runner up is exactly the same as the 2018 and 2019 games. In fact, "THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOAK" has won every game except 2021, where it was runner up.

Funny thing... in the 2021 game, "PRODIGAL DAUGHTER" won and "THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOAK" was the runner up.

~ I must admit, had I been awake I'd have saved "The Emperor's New Cloak" for the same reason. I think it's ridiculous fun (and utterly shallow & unbelievable), and the cast seem to be enjoying themselves - just the tonic to balance out the more serious episodes
