Charting the Novel-verse

Unfortunately, 8of5 who runs the Trek Collective site seems to have hit a busy patch in his non-Trek-fandom life. I haven't heard from him in a while and he hasn't updated his site since late 2021. It isn't the first time he's gone through a period of not being able to tend to his site; I hope he gets back in touch soon.

Ah, I get that, that's fair enough! Thanks for the update!

Wasn't the current version essentially complete, except you would need to stick the Coda trilogy at the very bottom?

I don't have access to the master files but I made a small edit to my copy to include the Coda Trilogy to the chart if it interests you.

I love this chart! Good job with the addition of Coda!
Now we just need to add Agents of Influence and Harm's Way to a sort-of 'post-VAN/Seekers' box, aligned with TOS

Howdy y'all!
A few other sources I've looked at have "Q Are Cordially Uninvited..." bridging the gap between before dishonor and greater than the sum. Does this seem right? Apologies if it's already been discussed in this thread but a search doesn't turn up anything.

The main story of Q Are Cordially Uninvited... goes immediately before Greater than the Sum, but contradicts it in some details. However, it has a frame story set on an unspecified anniversary of its events, probably (I would estimate) the first through fourth. The frame story is so much of a nothingburger, though, you could read the novella when the main story is set; it doesn't give anything away.

Margaret asked me to skip showing the wedding in GTTS so that she could save it for a later story, on the theory that teasing it would build interest for the story that eventually filled in the gap.

Oh wow, thanks for jumping in!
I think I'll try Greater than the Sum next, and then the Q book right after instead of the infographic placement. Totally off topic, do you get a greater cut if I buy a paperback at my local book store or if I buy it in e-book on Kobo? I realize the paper supply chain has more hiccups and middlemen, particularly for an older novel.

Would you recommend reading it before, after, or closer to publish order? Is it lead in for a later story?
It has basically no connections to anything, it doesn't really mention anything that wasn't on tv other than the wedding itself.

This may be true, but your rendering of the wedding indicates it was boring (not in a bad way, most weddings are), and the few facts it gives about it weren't adhered to by Rudy Josephs.

Hmm, I don't know. It probably wouldn't make much difference, since I have yet to earn out my advance on any of the Trek novels I've put out in the past two decades (meaning I won't see any additional royalties until the advances are paid off).

Wait, there's a story for all the novels? I honestly thought they were all independant of one another like how they're independent of the main shows.
I'm... not sure why I thought that. 🤣

Depends on the time period. Most of the ones published right now are pretty stand-alone, and most of them in general are either part of a duology or fairly episodic. But a large percentage of the books from 2000-2020 are part of a post-nemesis continuity that build off each other.
I've been enjoying them so far, having read the ds9 books up through the soul key and now starting on the next generation.

That continuity really started with the DS9 post-finale series, predating Nemesis by about 3 years in-universe, but also had ties with books set earlier in the timeline, such as the Lost Era series, my post-TMP novels, the Voyager: String Theory trilogy, and some older things that were retroactively acknowledged as part of the continuity.

Seeing elsewhere reference to the death of David McIntee yesterday. I can't confirm if this is true and if so his Wikipedia entry hasn't yet been updated.

He hasn't posted here (as Lone Magpie) for almost exactly a year.

Very sad news if true. Does anyone have any information ?
