Predictions for Phase 2 of Star Trek

As for my fave Kurtz-trek, you are correct. I have none. I stopped watching Disco after Season 3, Picard after Season 1, and Lower Decks after less than two minutes (though I have been told it does get a million times better after the first couple of eps so giving this a proper chance is on my to do list). I haven't watched a single second of SNW (also on my to do list). I was really enjoying Prodigy for what it was, so I've set that aside to watch with my young daughter and will start doing so pretty soon...
You jumped ship too late. As someone that greatly dislikes DISCOVERY, SNW, and PICARD season 1, I'd suggest the following:
-- PICARD season 3... it's the closest to feeling like Berman era Star Trek, and it won over many harsh critics. Just prepare for a few f-bombs. It might very well send that chill down your spine that you're watching new Star Trek for the first time since 2005.
-- LOWER DECKS... pick up with episode 108. From that point on, there are only about 2 weak episodes, and the worst of the cringe has passed. It never moves beyond being a parody of Star Trek, and there's no way it fits into the traditional continuity, but it does have moments of greatness and the glass is always at least half full.

As to SNW... it's a Frankensteinian combination of TOS, DISCOVERY, THE ORVILLE, and the CW Arrowverse shows. YMMV.

SNW is an interesting case. When it's doing Star Trek As Usual, it doesn't connect with me. When it's doing more "out there" stuff, I like it a lot. The takeaway I'm getting from this is: I think they should go more off-the-wall more often. I don't know how long it's possible to keep that up, but they should.

It's slightly blunted by knowing where it's all going, but they're making up for it by connecting dots.

I dropped the series, then, after word of mouth from people I trust, I un-dropped it. That's pretty rare for me.

Why must all Trek be like Berman-era Trek?

The Berman era had its faults (homophobia, misogyny, etc.). It wasn't perfect by any means.

I liked much of Roddenberry/Berman Trek.

I don't ever want to see anything like it, again.

It belonged to a certain type and era of television. It's done. Finished. The Picard series demonstrated how pointless and outdated attempts to revive it must be.

SNW is now.

If someone wants a series set in the 24th/25th century, do it the way SNW is being done.

Otherwise, why bother?

I've been a Star Trek fan for 40 years! Why wouldn't/shouldn't I be interested in what comes next? Or are you telling me that's it, I have to be out for good because I think Kurtz-trek has been/is abysmal?
Nah, just sit out the ones you don't like. I did that for Voyager. Only time in the nearly 60 years I've been watching I did, but it wasn't worth my time. As such, I've spent little time in the Voyager forum and tend to sit out discussions for the most part.

Dark and gritty one episode, campy the next?

Given that Kurtzman being in charge of Trek is potentially continuing on for another 5ish years, depending on contracts, what is next for you?

Genuine question because I gave up on TNG and VOY and didn't get to DS9 until later and didn't get through season 1 of ENT. I content myself with TOS rewatches, the Abrams films, and fan discussion. Being a Trek fan for "X" number of years doesn't mean everything is for every fan. Especially if it's "abysmal."
If Kurtzman gets a new contract so be it. As I always have done, I'll give each new show a chance and decide whether it's worth my time or not... and then probably end up watching it anyway. For all I've disliked STD, and absolutely loathed S1 of PIC, the latter seasons of both shows are still on my to watch list...

I agree with this sentiment. People do tend to forget when thinking back that Bermaga really had run their race. Both of them talking about franchise fatigue were really talking about their own condition (though the idea that the franchise needed a break wasn't totally without merit). There is no question things needed a shake-up and modernisation. It's how that's been handled (since 2009) that I take issue with...

IDIC, I guess. If I loathe a show it's not getting more of my time.

Yep. Whipsaw me, writers! Drag my feelings all over the place.

Not that I ever see much camp in Star Trek. Everything funny and exaggerated is not "camp." Maybe a couple of episodes of late TOS.

The SNW having a smaller audience than Picard and Disco wasn't a bash, it's a simple statement of fact (as best we know it from trends etc).
SNW reached 7 on the Neilsen streaming rankings for original content. Picard got as far as 9, IIRC.

Of course, only Paramount know 100% for sure how many people have watched their shows, rewatched their shows etc via P+.
