Then why comment on it?I clearly stated that even if SNW S3 is the greatest season of TV ever it wouldn't matter.
Other than having an apparently differing opinion on the quality of Kurtz-trek, what did I say above that is remotely far reaching?
And what's your favorite season of Kurtzman Trek? It sounds like you don't have one. And if you don't have a favorite one, then what does it matter to you which one I choose? I could've picked any of them, and it would've gotten the same reaction from you.Gahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... aaaahhhhh... oh... wait. You're serious?
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
I look forward to reading them.I’m going to see Barbenheimer this week. I will post my thoughts about it here.
Mate, I didn't realise this place had become so damned precious. My post was clearly a joke. But on thikning about it, I suppose you've spent so much time defending your taste in Trek, said joke would land pretty flat. So I'll openly say: wasn't trying to piss you off, was meant as a bit of light ribbing, can see why it missed the mark. And what's your favorite season of Kurtzman Trek? It sounds like you don't have one. And if you don't have a favorite one, then what does it matter to you which one I choose?
STL doesn't exist.
As for the wider discussion as a whole... I don't think the actual/perceived quality of whatever is produced is actually relevant atm. SNW will wrap after season 3. It really doesn't matter if it's complete horse shit, or if it's the single greatest season of tv ever made. It's done. The end.
And that will be all she wrote. P+ is doomed, and Paramount won't be in a position to green light anything new - certainly not anything as costly as live action Trek - until the entire streaming market settles and finds a "new norm" (whatever that happens to be). Paramount will either see sense, close the service and lease out its back-catalogue to another provider; or, it'll keep sinking in good money after bad until it's bought outright by a bigger player like Amazon/Apple/Netflix (the latter makes the most sense, though is the weakest financially).
Your registration date suggests you were here during the days of the ENT Forum. So you know what it was like.Mate, I didn't realise this place had become so damned precious.
The fact is, based on what I've seen, the writing is objectively poor.
I just find it strange that someone who hasn't followed Star Trek (except for Prodigy) in three years, by his own admission, cares about a thread discussing the next phase of it. If it were truly the case, he should've moved on by now. Something's fishy. So you believe that you and you alone can make objective statements about the quality of art?
Opinions are, by their very nature, subjective. As such, you aren't approaching the discussion from any kind of rational standpoint.
"I don't like it" does not equal "Objectively bad".
Eh, never mind. Discussion over. This kind of thing is ten a'penny within any fandom. Moving on!
Quoted for posterity.I stopped watching Disco after Season 3, Picard after Season 1, and Lower Decks after less than two minutes (though I have been told it does get a million times better after the first couple of eps so giving this a proper chance is on my to do list). I haven't watched a single second of SNW (also on my to do list). I was really enjoying Prodigy for what it was, so I've set that aside to watch with my young daughter and will start doing so pretty soon...
I watched Star Trek from 1991 to 1999 and then from 2017 on. I wasn't a fan of VOY or ENT. So I didn't force myself to watch six years of what I wasn't interested in, from 1999 to 2005. At that time, the only way Star Trek was ever going to get me back for good was if B&B left.I've been a Star Trek fan for 40 years! Why wouldn't/shouldn't I be interested in what comes next? Or are you telling me that's it, I have to be out for good because I think Kurtz-trek has been/is abysmal?
Not what I said.In fact, the more I think about it, the more confusing your post. Especially given what I said about me needing to give specific shows a chance. I'm kinda hoping you're not being as entitled as it comes across.
Oh yeah, I was here for Ent.Your registration date suggests you were here during the days of the ENT Forum. So you know what it was like.
This board has been the same since Day One.
I'm not claiming to be sole arbiter of anything. The objective quality of anything - even art - is quantifiable, even if it's reduced to just the technical aspect/level. That basically everyone applies their own subjective standards and generally chooses to ignore (or in some cases can't see) the objective is the reason for variability in peoples tastes - which obviously we're all the better for.So you believe that you and you alone can make objective statements about the quality of art?

Yeah, I've heard/read that too. His openly saying so is what lends credence to the other reports around what's going on at P+ imo...Prodigy Co-Producer Aaron Waltke has said there's a "99.9% probability" of it landing somewhere else.
There's another take on what's going I hadn't heard/read, but it's not a million miles away from the others (or what I said above). Where opinion really differs here is re: Trek. Most don't think it'll survive because of its costs. I guess you can read that as it'll either be the headliner/flagship show, or there won't be any (assuming these "insiders" are correct ofc).P+ wishes to "optimize" its streaming content:

I'm not "all out with the old" and "all in with the new". I don't like SNW as much as DSC or PIC. I stopped watching LD altogether. I like TOS, TNG, DS9, and yes VOY (my opinion of it has gone up since the '90s/'00s), but ENT is still the one series I outright don't like. I also like the TOS Movies better than the TNG or Kelvin Movies.I disagree with the last sentence, which was kinda my point. I think maybe the difference back then was that were fewer people who were all in on the new (at the point, just Ent) and out with the old (all that came before). The discussions around Ent got pretty heated, but those same people arguing would be in a different forum discussing some other aspect of the franchise.

Given that Kurtzman being in charge of Trek is potentially continuing on for another 5ish years, depending on contracts, what is next for you?I've been a Star Trek fan for 40 years! Why wouldn't/shouldn't I be interested in what comes next? Or are you telling me that's it, I have to be out for good because I think Kurtz-trek has been/is abysmal?
