Thanks, that makes perfect sense now I've read that text with your explanation in mind.I think what I was saying was that if that turboshaft is not on the midline, it will run into the two phaser power conduits that are on either side of it and feed into the two (P/S) BC deck phasers (that we see in TAS). Of course we could let them jig and jog around the turboshaft, and I’m not sure I wouldn’t let them if I had it to do over. I am increasingly persuaded that the bridge should just be dropped down a bit further and made straight, with the power conduits snaking their way around the turboshaft.
Yeah, I wasn't implying that the Navy way would work in a disk-shaped hull; it works for the Navy because the hulls are long and narrow.I see the 8 foot corridors give enough space for two way foot traffic even during GQs (red alerts) as seen on-screen with shots of crew scrambling during red alerts. We also see more crewmen using the vertical tri-ladders.

Perhaps that's where the machinery is. I know judging location based on sets is a fool's errand (and as God is my witness, I am that fool!) but no way Spock was wandering around in the BC section when he heard Kirk yelling to fire phasers.Memory Alpha says Phaser Control is on Deck 5. I don’t know where they get that. The BC phasers shown in TAS line up with what Jefferies shows as Deck 2, so that’s where I put it. The whole BoT debacle in Phaser Control involved ruptured seals and coolant leaks, which infers some kind of feed. That’s where I got it from, and why I put it where I did. Of course, forward phasers could just as well be below, with Phaser Control there, but it seemed to be fortuitous to have those phasers so close to what looks to be a type of fuel hatch at the back of the BC deck. And I have the phasers below controlled and powered through the torpedo room.

Apparently mentioning deck 11 hit a nerve. apologies...
Just a few tweaks here and there. I think the Deck 21 is the most obvious - FASA eliminated the bowling alley!I see the fasa drawings mentioned as the basic reference point. I had thought they were just franz j. drawings reprinted. Is there a large difference?
And lookee at the size of the flight that doesn’t intrude much under the support pylons. Thats the lead I followed.
Thats actually one area I find myself intrigued with Mr. Trek’s solution. I don’t we’ve seen anything onscreen to suggest what the area of the ship might look like. Also doesn't have the saucer undercut. Would save some headaches around the saucer and neck interface![]()
