Spoilers Season 2 Preview Images and Videos Thread

It definitely looks like the next episode is more serious. Since it's sandwiched between the LD crossover and the musical, I'm guessing it will be Very Serious. I'm looking forward to more background on M'Benga, Chapel, and Ortegas.

I wonder if the Butcher of J'Gal, the guy who turned the sky red with blood, is the Klingon ambassador seen in the movies. Probably not though.

Kirk really should be in this episode to show the origins of his hatred for Klingons. Also, we know Uhura's prejudices against Klingons last at least up till Star Trek 6.

his hatred towards the Klingons didn’t fully explode and be noticed until the search for Spock when a Klingon killed David, his own son.

It's not clear that Kirk hated the Klingons before TSFS, just dislilked them as most Starfleet officers generally did.

It wasn't until his son was murdered by one senselessly that dislike festered into hate.

There's no indication Kirk hated the Klingons before TSFS.

Not going to watch that clip, either I'm going to love it or hate it, but I want it in the context of the episode.

Read on the synopsis it's some kind of anomaly that makes them sing. Tbh I was hoping for something more 4th wall breaking. Like, having to save an important alien concert, Blues Brothers style, and suddenly everyone every other scene decide to dance and sing in their own. In a musical logic way, less of a Trek logic way.

Also...ugh... Kirk again...
But whatever. Better here than in the Lower Decks crossover. But for god's sake tone it the fuck down next season.

How does that break the fourth wall?

This is what, his third appearance this season? Not seeing the problem.

Or call it more meta or something. Just don't have an obvious in-universe reason for the singing, and instead directly operates on musical-logic without any excuses.

That's exactly a third of all episodes this season so far. Kirk got more episodes than Ortegas, M'Benga or other main cast members the entire series so far.

Imagine if Cpt. Picard just didn't fuck off of DS9, and instead taught Sisko or others how to run shit every third episode. That spin-off would never have stood on its own feet!

Yeah, young Kirk is part of the ensemble of recurring characters on SNW, and it really makes a lot of sense.

He can go on forever on the show without becoming captain of the Enterprise. They can end production on SNW and go on to a completely unrelated Trek project and never do a series about Kirk as captain of the Enterprise.

Or, two years from now they could be making a streaming TV movie about Kirk and Spock and the rest of the old TOS crew on the Enterprise during their five year mission. They could do that while SNW is still on the air.

There's no way to know right now.
