What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Be warned it’s pretty silly.

Imagine Knight Rider crossed with Mad Max, but with semi-trucks and pro-wrestlers.

The YouTube channel Retro TV seems to have the entire series uploaded.
It's been a few years since I looked. The torrents never had any seeds. Download links were always dead. It was definitely not on YouTube back then because I could barely get a look at the theme song. I will definitely have to check this out. the Knight Rider and Glen Larson connection always intrigued me.

A couple months ago I found the 1993 journey to the center of the Earth TV movie on YouTube and that was another holy Grail from my torrent days. It still seems odd to me that YouTube can host full TV shows and movies and it is not my first organic place to look.

Let's run through @Guy Gardener's list one-by-one.

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.
Beauty and the Beast.
Ducktales. :alienblush:
Doctor Who.
Max Headroom. :techman:
The Highwayman
Defenders of the Earth.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. :alienblush:
Amazing Stories.
Twighlight Zone.
Transformers. :borg:
Out of This World.
Dinosaucers. :alienblush:
Alf-Tales
Good Morning Miss Bliss. (The Hero can freeze time, manipulate reality and see the Future. Just because all he uses the powers of a god for is to make a teenage girl fall in love with him, it's no less science fiction than Star Trek.)
Of this list, I watched... Doctor Who, Max Headroom, Amazing Stories (I think), and Twilight Zone.

I did watch V past the first mini, but that may've been through lack of other things to watch.

Yeah, the pickings were kind of slim...

Ooooo... staring Tim Russ and F. Murray Abraham, I'll have to check that out.

That reminds me, there was a mid-90s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea TV movie with Michael Caine as Captain Nemo that I recall being pretty good.

Well... I don't know about good. A friend of mine said "When did the Nautilus become Voyager?" :) Caine was... Getting paid?

There was also one with Ben Cross as Nemo from the same year.

Perhaps I’m misremembering, or mixing it up with the Cross one, it’s been a quarter century, lol

  • Chakotay and Seven had potential to be a great couple, if developed properly.
  • Ezri Dax was better developed on one season than Jadzia was in six.
  • Saru is the worst character on "Discovery." If he didn't have such cool alien makeup, and instead was a traditional rubber forehead alien, more people would realize how bland he is.
  • Kelpian soup sounds delicious
  • The fact that "Star Trek: Discovery's" initials are "STD" is hilarious, and this should not conflict with being a fan of the show.
  • Johnathan Archer is the one flaw of "Enterprise" that I just cannot get past (and that's saying something)
  • Picard was served way too many deus ex machines on TNG. Sisko and Janeway actually had to make tough calls with no great solution, and no easy fix.

I was thinking about this the other day. The only reason Ezri is so awesome (and she is) is because the audience had the experience of Jadzia. She wouldn't have worked as well as a new character.

You're insane. Er, I mean, I disagree. I run hot and cold on Disco but Saru is clearly the best thing about it. (No, I'm not calling Saru a "thing".)

The fact that "Star Trek: Discovery's" initials are "STD" is hilarious, and this should not conflict with being a fan of the show.
I will then insist that everyone now use ST (or STTOS / STTAS), STTNG, STDSN, STV, and E (and eventually STE) when abbreviating Star Trek shows.

Besides, Disco is a perfectly acceptable term for the show.

I like DSC myself. But yeah, STD doesn't conform with the convention, and is used to troll the fans of the show. Poorly, I might add.

I use the same convention as Memory Alpha: first three letters of the subtitle for one-word subtitles, and the initials of each word for multiple-word subtitles.

It's an odd series for me. The story content is often very, very disappointing and severely lacking in keeping my attention on a given episode but the characters themselves are just fine. Owo and Detmer are probably in my Top Five or Six of all DSC characters and I always like them, but they just don't get enough time to shine on their own.
