There is a story in our family about my cousin. He admired an actor very much and one day he meets this actor on a boat. Apparently, my cousin was an obnoxious fan boy, so much so that the actor literally jumped the boat to escape him. So, yes, Boimler and Mariner acting as they did is believable.

I love the Enterprise in both animated and live action. She is a beautiful ship.

Kirk is probably somewhat infamous for the whole Genesis debacle, but also for saving the Federation at least three times in his later career. But also for his contacts with the Romulans, Klingons, and Gorn. Perhaps even other incidents like the M-5 Disaster and the loss of USS Constellation and Matt Decker.

TNG hated TOS seemingly in some places and it took them awhile to realize that was stupid. Kirk would be manifestly the most famous captain alive just for V'Ger, The Voyage Home, and the Khitomer Accords let alone his role in the Organian Treaty.

"Who is this Kirk guy?"

"The first man to encounter the Romulans in a century?"

"The who?"

When it was just Boimler and Mariner, the interactions definitely felt and sounded a lot more like their animated variants. The Spock stuff was kind of weird and out of nowhere.

Pretty much my impression too on this one. I can't get into the LD characters or their humour, and this episode didn't change my mind sadly. There were bits I definitely liked, such as the conversation about birthdays. And the chat Boimler had with Ortegas and Chapel in the mess hall was cute, but for the most part this ep didn't click with me. The two shows are too far apart tonally and visually for it to gel together.

I didn't exactly dislike it, but it was... something, yeah.
I love Lower Decks. And I love SNW. I love them both, just not sure I love them together. I need to watch it again on a bigger screen before I decide. I did LOVE the opening credits though.

Well it went about the way I expected....a bit too silly for my tastes. I never really was a big fan of too much comedy in Star Trek. Not much more to say. Everyone has covered everything already...lol. Solid 5...

So far this season has been a bit of a disappointment for me compared to last season....oh well...

There's a musical episode coming up!

I’ve seen some people criticizing their behavior in comparisons to the officers in Trials and Tribble-ations, but the HUGE difference is that in Trials they were trying to maintain a cover, and in this episode the Enterprise crew knew Boimler was from the future right away.

The context is very different.

I kind of felt they overdid it with the fanboying EXCEPT with Spock.

I feel like it would have worked SLIGHTLY better if Boimler had been fanboying about Spock, Uhura, and Nurse Chapel over everyone else.

He knows OF M'Benga and Pike but would mostly wonder how M'Benga got demoted and Chapel lost her doctor's license.

Also, they're a seasoned crew of veterans and Boimler, despite his actor's age, is maybe 20 at the most.

I'm going with a 4. Just didn't click with me because I dislike LD and most of the characters from it. The episode didn't click with be and everything I dislike about LD stood out. The characters I tune in to see where pushed to the side.

I could have maybe given it a 5.

I did like they animated opening title sequence and the animated ending scene with the SNW cast.

Blah. I'll probably never watch that one again, I just can't take LD that much.

And, yeah, Starfleet uses propagana-era recruitment posters... Right.

If Kirk was here Mariner probably would have fainted.
Uhura’s Datapad had CARDASSIA and Bajor on it. I don’t think Starfleet knows about those planets at this time.
