There's no presupposition that there has to be anything funnier.
The general vibe anytime someone even dares say they don't find LD funny. "LD is really damn funny and the best thing to come from the current batch of Trek" concept is reaching "DS9 is the best series from that era" levels.

I enjoy LDS. It’s damned good. But I get it’s not for everyone. I truly prefer SNW. It’s consistently fun and takes some good risks. Some might not appreciate it but I do. Star Trek’s format after almost 60 years has gotten a little stale. Not everyone will agree there and that’s okay.
