Boims POV

Is his Orion bottleship an EM model? :D

Tolian Soran and Nero boasted knowing about the famous James T. Kirk before beating him up (in the latter case beating up Kelvin Kirk). Just a few weeks ago an undercover Romulan made a similar boast before outright killing an alternate timeline Kirk. None of these people were in Starfleet or even connected to Starfleet other than in said confrontations.
^That doesn't really gauge how famous or important the historical figure is, or how well revered the person is.

Also, keep in mind Nero probably had Spock in mind, and would have known who Spock was around in that era.

No.

Dax was geeking out about Spock, who was still a living legend in their era, and Sisko didn't really say much beyond "it was a honor...". And remember, Miles and Bashir couldn't remember what Kirk looked like, when Boimler recognized Pike instantly.

Dax geeked out over Kirk, Spock AND McCoy (McCoy on a more personal level) but managed to still act like a professional, realistic, believable person and not like, well, a cartoon character.

Soran knew about it because it was his "rescue" mission that Kirk was "killed" on.

Refresh my memory. I seem to remember Dax crushing on Spock and Bones, but I don't recall her saying anything about Kirk. She mostly geeked out on the tech and look of the era.

But again, she had many lifetimes worth of experience, while Boimler barely lived 20 years....

You mean the centuries old alien high ranking officer? No, I can't imagine why. Yes, they were silly and stupid but perfectly fit how I know a lot of people in the RL military to act--when not under their officers.

That was a fun episode. Didn't really make sense in the big sense, but still a fun episode to get surprised with on a Saturday. Would be interesting to see either series to do more in the live action realm or animated realm.

There's a scene where Sisko avoids a chance to talk to Kirk and Dax challenges him on it saying, "But it's Jim Kirk!" It wasn't on the level of her fawning over the tricorder or getting squishy over Spock and McCoy but it was a touch of fan girl moment.

I am just so happy at the amount of people who are angry at this episode, simply because it means it is going to be living rent free in their head because they're powerless to change a single bit.

I liked it I’ll give it a 9 and I already feel like watching it again. It’s basically like a lower decks episode…and it was fun! This is what I needed today.
