I loved it.

It just shouldn't have been mentioned period. The birthday party thing was contrived and Pike's birthday being a Fed holiday seems a bit much. We were already beaten over the head with Kirk's mission being historic, now we're told that Pike's is also, which ironically makes one wonder why Kirk's mission is so historic in comparison to Pike's.

There's a medal named after Pike. As far as I tell, there isn't one named in honor of Kirk. Also, the TNG era shows didn't really clearly explain how/what Kirk was famous. The Captains knowing things about Kirk doesn't really say much, as they would have learned about Kirk, along with many other captains from before their time.

Nope! They didn't bat an eye at anything they saw in regards to the ship or technology. Much to the disappointment, i'm sure, of certain individuals who expected Boimler or Mariner to gripe about things "looking wrong." Prime Timeline, Baby!

That’s Neo Prime. ;)

Boimler's log: Stardate, uh... the past. :D

Hilarious, heartfelt, and that changed up opening sequence *chef's kiss*

I'm not the biggest LD fan, but I can totally commiserate with the absolute fanboy-ing and fangirl-ing going on. This was a fun episode with a bit of heart to it. I think my only complaint is that I'd have liked a little more balance with the LD and SNW crew on screen but it still works for me.

well yeah, they aren’t gonna dump over the set designers for either TOS or SNW.

Why are you hate watching?

yeah, if you hate Lower Decks that much just skip it.

Also I'm not sure why they let Boimler say as much as he did in regards to Pike, because his words seemed to imply that no cure for Pike is ever found after Menagerie. I'm not sure the writers should box themselves in that way, Anson's a great actor and curing Pike after Menagerie and continuing from there seems a possibility they should leave open.
No.

Trials and Tribble-ations did this much better. Sisko and Dax were geeking out but still maintained a level of professionalism. As for Boimler and Mariner, I'll just assume they die horribly on Frontier Day
Dax was geeking out about Spock, who was still a living legend in their era, and Sisko didn't really say much beyond "it was a honor...". And remember, Miles and Bashir couldn't remember what Kirk looked like, when Boimler recognized Pike instantly.

Also, the TNG era shows didn't really clearly explain how/what Kirk was famous. The Captains knowing things about Kirk doesn't really say much, as they would have learned about Kirk, along with many other captains from before their time.
Tolian Soran and Nero boasted knowing about the famous James T. Kirk before beating him up (in the latter case beating up Kelvin Kirk). Just a few weeks ago an undercover Romulan made a similar boast before outright killing an alternate timeline Kirk. None of these people were in Starfleet or even connected to Starfleet other than in said confrontations.

It's on and part of a show I truly enjoy in a franchise I love. I'll watch it this once then it'll be in the same bin as Shades of Gray, Code of Honor, Threshold, The Way to Eden and... Can't really think of one for DS9 (I actually like Move Along Home... Maybe Profit and Lace?).

This is not clicking with me, entirely because I don't like LD. The shows are too different and don't work together and the LD characters are standing out too far from the SNW characters and stories. Guess which ones I tune in to see?

It's not working for me. It's a mess.

I did like the animated version of the title sequence, though.
