DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

"right side of history." --- for me, that is an "ugh".

I mean, Neville Chamberlain thought he was on the "right side of history".

And many on the "wrong side", other than a few scapegoats, rarely get any real punishments.

For Xolo, i doubt anyone will remember his announcement, or if he had decided to promote it anyway.

This movie is his chance to be able to grow as an actor (and have a future, possibly with the DCOU), but like most other things happening with the DCFU (especially Flash), this will be just the worst luck.

I really like him in CObra Kai, and was hoping that fanbase could help elevate him.
Not sure I understand your objection. That he used oft turned phrase? So what? That his comments will be forgotten? Against so what? Are you saying he should just “shut up and act” and be grateful?
He’s supporting his fellow actors, many of who never got the break of being in “Cobra Kai” or cast as Blue Beetle,

Yep - but remember - leading up to The Flash, we had articles from just this past April like:

‘The Flash’ Earns More Record-Setting Scores at Test-Screening

https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/4/yzxvcr0ckujxd4uhbs5jnwp2a7j99a
The rumors go that Warner Bros is so confident with “The Flash” that they are willing to keep Ezra Miller on for future instalments.

In fact, their confidence is so high that they’re not even going to hide their summer golden nugget for long. They’ve decided to screen the movie, in its entirety, next week at CinemaCon, more than 6 weeks before the theatrical release date.

Now we’re getting word that another record-breaking test-screening occured yesterday and, shocker, the response was enthusiastic. This was said to be the Final Cut of the film and the scores were “through the roof,” again.

I had been told back in August that “The Flash” earned the highest test-score ratings in DCEU history when it screened that month. Directed by Andrés Muschietti, “The Flash” is indeed rumored to be one of the best DCEU movies.

Our report was then emulated by Deadline who wrote about the incredible reception for “The Flash”. That’s why there will be no more delays for this movie. It’s very much a 2023 release, despite its budget having supposedly skyrocketed to nearly $300 million.

James Gunn called it “probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” Oh, and a certain Tom Cruise raved about the film. THR reported that Cruise loved the movie so much that he cold-called Muschietti to rave about it...
Time will tell.

I wonder if those test screenings were for an earlier cut of the film, rather than the final cut as claimed. I saw a review from someone saying that it didn't feel like a bad film so much as a good film that was tampered with in ways that wrecked it, particularly in the third act.

Might not be a bad idea, and not just because of the strikes. The past few months have been overcrowded with tentpole movies, the majority of which underperformed at the box office.
On the other hand, with the current schedule, there won't be a single DC movie in 2024. And the strikes brings the question whether movies scheduled for 2024 will actually be ready until then.

So, yeah, kneejerk fanboy reaction is "Shit, I wanted to see that ASAP", but with the slightest bit of thought put into it, yeah, probably a good idea to push it back a bit.

I think in the end it depends on how much they want the new DCU to have a good amount of distance from the old DCEU vs. how much they want to keep DC movies in theaters over an extended strike period.

I could see it making sense either way. It really just depends on what their highest priority ultimately is.

The possible nightmare scenario for WB is that Aquaman outperforms Superman: Legacy that would leave a real mess...

Something to consider. If it happened, I'm fairly sure some will try to pull hollow excuses out of the place usually giving life to their views--their rear ends---blaming Man of Steel or Snyder for "hurting" or "giving the wrong impression" of Superman, instead of focusing on a separate production's shortcomings.

They're leaving the door open on Momoa's Aquaman being part of the DCU. Gunn had them cut a Batfleck scene specifically for that reason. If it performs well, he'll be part of the shared universe going forward. If not, they might introduce a different Aquaman down the road.

I'm a little surprised they would consider pushing the movies that have probably already finished filming back because of the strikes. Does the WGA and SAG members not being able to promote a movie really make that big of an impact on it? I do like seeing interviews and things like that, but they've never really made that much of a difference in whether or not I'd see a movie.

The article implies that a long running strike would leave fewer “event” films available for screening in 2024, so some of them might be held back to fill the void. While the focus is on Warner Bros., other studios (notably Marvel) are mentioned. PR by actors is not the main driver here.

Or something else is going on.
Reshoots are normal ofcourse, but a third round, especially since it apparently got many negative comments from test audiences AFTER reshoots....
