From all that I've heard, that's apparently the case. There was also an interim version where both Kara and Kal (in the person of Henry Cavill) appeared at the end, along with Keaton and Wonder Woman.

Unfortunately, the Cavill and Calle scene was cut. Thankfully, the Keaton part did not happen.

Another thing I'm not real clear on is why there would supposedly be "no Wonder Woman" in the timeline Barry creates. Diana is thousands of years old. Are we to assume that in this timeline Steve & the Germans never end up in Themyscira for some reason? Even so, if Zod's forces took over Earth, the Amazons would presumably have to fight eventually.

You can assume Wonder Woman would not appear because the reasons she left Themyscira did not occur in the Barry-altered timeline. Why would that series of events play out the same as in the prime timeline?

Spaghetti. He jumped into a timeline where events are similar but also very different which includes the past also.

Temporal spaghetti, my man.

I had held out some faint hope that they would include an alternate cut of the film restoring the original filmed ending, where Calle and Keaton return (in which case I would consign the theatrical version permanently to the viewing dustbin, as I did with the theatrical BvS), but no such luck.

They’re probably keeping that back in hope of a double dip down the line

Why is "The Flash: Escape the Midnight Circus" a podcast extra included on this set? They can't give us an audio commentary but they stick on some totally unrelated podcast series?

Maybe it will be included among the deleted scenes. Although I doubt it....

I can see why that ending would play better than ending the film with a joke ( and a reference to a despised film ). But how lame would it be that they went to the trouble of resurrecting Superman in JL only for him to end up dead anyway in the next movie?

Not as lame as killing Superman in only his second movie (in this continuity), knowing darn well he would be back in the next film (and excluding him from marketing posters). Why would we be sad knowing he will be right back, and no real permanent change..
