News Star Trek Prodigy Cancelled, Season 2 to be shopped around

The question is, will season 2 end up as direct-to-dvd if Paramount can't find a buyer?

I would be fine with season 2 being Direct-to-Video, TBH. But I'm guessing it will be more likely to get a release if they actually find a buyer, since what we're hearing is that if there's no buyer, they will just write it off, meaning no release ever.

I clicked on that Amazon link, and the page says "Currently Unavailable", with no way to pre-order it.

On the plus side, though, that listing does have a specific release date, so it would seem to be a little more "real" than those placeholder listings that Amazon often puts up with no dates, because they expect something to be announced someday. Hopefully that's a good sign!

I find it very hard to believe that it will never be released, considering the popular nature of Star Trek. But what do I know? I'm not a Paramount exec.

Amazon US has a listing for season 1, part 2 blu-ray up

usually these turn out to be true if it does this is a relief. They can’t take physical media away from you which is why it’s so important to have.
The good news... PICARD season 3 was listed this way for several weeks, and was later officially announced.

The bad news... it could have been planned before the show was canceled. The discs probably haven't been manufactured yet, so it could still be pulled.

The left hand (Paramount Home Video) might not be talking to the right hand (the division that decided to write off the show). At the very least, had they intended to release the second half of the season in September, that likely means special features have already been produced and the discs mastered. And based on the Amazon listing, the set would be released by Paramount Home Video proper, and not Manufactured on Demand by Allied Vaughn a la STLD season 3.

Aaand it just got a little more unclassy at Paramount+. Season 4 of ENT has been pulled.

Sure, it contains "TATV..." and even the white heat death of an exploding star is too good for that one but come on. :scream: Now they're just trolling customers.

I keep telling people to unsub because this is no good, and is only setting the table for more disappointment. Hate being proven right, but I know business and austerity measures suck.

Surely that's a technical issue? There's no conceivable reason to (a) remove Season 4 in the first place, and (b) only remove Season 4 and not the first three seasons.

It does look like that. And it looks terrible.

Can't remember what all the rest look like but ENT's a standout mess of bad font.

A little off-topic, sorry, but... I've never seen that "Star Trek: Enterprise" logo before. Is that really how it looks on P+?

I saw that logo and font for "Enterprise" the first time in the promotion for the syndicated release of the series:

A bit strange they still use it so many years later on P+ instead of the normal logo with the Jeffries Font.

Well, Season 4 reapppeared for me but it was really weird that it vanished for a while. I guess it could have been a technical glitch with the service but damn, it didn't look good right after said service removed an entire Trek series and on purpose.

Intended to distract us, maybe? Seems farfetched, but I wouldn't put anything past them after Prodigy.

Honestly, I think I like that better than ENT's primary logo. I dig the NASA-esque look. Though I wonder if there was any ulterior motive behind emphasizing the "STAR TREK" part and making the "Enterprise" part so small.

I just heard the show was cancelled and pulled! Shame on me for constantly saying “I’ll get around to watching in someday…” and now there are no more some days!

There still can be. There is a blu-ray for season 1A, which you can buy from Amazon and other places (in the US only, sadly) and buying that signals interest in the show.

You can also suggest the show to Netflix (they have a page for that, even for non subscribers), and sign the petition https://www.change.org/p/save-star-trek-prodigy
It isn't going to change Paramount's decision, but it helps to signal to Netflix and others that showing S2 may be commercially interesting.
