Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

A bit of a change from set up of the first season. I'm curious how connected the 3 episode chapters will be, will each one it's own story, or will they be more connected?

I don't know, just sounds like an expansion of the same structure as the first season. I suspect the plots of each trio of episodes won't be as important to the overall narrative through-line as what each story says about it's respective characters from a thematic standpoint.

It depends what movie comes first: the NJO movie, or the Mandoverse tie-up movie. If it's the latter then sure, it's possible. If it's the latter, then probably not. The impression I get is that Rey's movie is probably happening first.

Yeah, they're not going to want to spoil Grogu's fate before they're done telling his story on The Mandalorian. You have to remember the Rey movie is going to be set almost 30 years after The Mandalorian depending on how long after The Rise of Skywalker it takes place.

Unless Grogu dies, 30 years wouldn't tell you what his fate would have been at the time of the Mandalorian. And Grogu won't die. So this shouldn't be a given.

But I don't like it when things are out of order anyway. Even including the prequels vs. original trilogy nowadays. So better it not be, or better keep connections but not arching narratives.

Closer to 40 if what they've said is accurate.

It's not really even about his specific fate so much as LF not wanting their various creative teams put in a position where they could potentially be stepping on each others toes or painting each other into a corner.

It's why we never see Ahsoka show up in anything without Filloni's direct involvement. Why both Qi'ra & Sabe getting a very prominent run in the comics recently means neither character is likely to show up anywhere else anytime soon. And indeed why we're not likely to see Grogu in anything later in the timeline unless or until Jon Favreau is done with his story.

Interesting that they still have Hayden doing press over a year after release, which I guess one can interpret as further implicit confirmation of the reports that he will be showing up in 'Ahsoka' at some point.

And we have a trailer for the Ubisoft game; Outlaws. All CG, no gameplay.

Looks cool, and I like the setting . . . but this tells us nothing about the actual game. Indeed I think I recognised some of those digital assets from other projects, so I doubt this is even in-engine.

From a lore perspective; if we can take this at face value then it's obviously meant to take place smack in the middle between Empire & Jedi. Involves the underworld in general, and the Pykes specifically to some degree or another. The vibe is clearly "young Han Solo", but with an original character (Kay) who has a pet companion instead of a Wookiee. Interesting that Jaylen's buddy is a seemingly independent BC Commando Droid.
Not exactly blown away by the ship design though. Nothing wrong with it; star wars is full of flying bricks and rightly so. Just pretty non-descript for a hero ship. If only from a branding & marketing POV I would have expected something a little more distinctive.

That looks like the same minor modification of the R1 Star Destroyer model that was used in the "Squadrons" animated short.

Yeah, and the bartender looks a lot like the twi'lek padawan from the most recent SWTOR cinematic trailer.
Not surprising that LF would keep a library of assets from it's various projects for others to use (Jedi: Fallen Order even inherited some stuff from Ragtag and the abandoned BF3 IIRC) but it does rather indicate that just as it was with the 'Eclipse' trailer, this is all razzmatazz and not a lot of substance. To it's credit though (and unlike Eclipse) it at least has a clear narrative and establishes the setting.

This looks like it could be really fun, especially as someone who defaults to rogue character in video games. Funny enough, I was never a big Han fan. Though, I'm sure a lot of this is due to the fact that I didn't get into Star Wars until later in life, by which time I had developed an unfavorable opinion of Ford.

Supposedly there will be gameplay shown tomorrow.
Yeah, tomorrow is the Ubisoft Forward event. (Remember when every company all just announced their stuff at the same expo, instead of every one of them getting their own event?) They've already put a little more information up on the official site: -
"Star Wars Outlaws, the first-ever open-world Star Wars™ game, is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in 2024. With development led by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars Outlaws invites you to play as cunning scoundrel Kay Vess (Humberly González), who – along with her loyal companion Nix (Dee Bradley Baker) – must pull off one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.

Set between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™, Star Wars Outlaws takes place in a time when the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, and the criminal underworld is thriving. Kay will take on high-risk, high-reward missions from the galaxy’s crime syndicates as she seeks the means to start a new life."
So it basically sounds like 'Assassins Creed: Outer Rim', which is about what I expected from Ubisoft. And of course they got Dee to play the critter!

ETA: I just now noticed that the BX has what I'm pretty sure is a lightsaber slash across it's chest. Guess this one didn't survive the Clone Wars, but was rebuilt after the fact?

It looks and sounds like this has a lot of potential. I look forward to seeing some gameplay.

I thought that snowy mountainous planet in the trailer and poster looked familiar, and sure enough on closer inspection it looks to be none other than Kijimi (the one that pointlessly blew up in tRoS.) The Dai Bendu monastery is very recognisable. My indifference towards the movie it appeared in aside; it is a solid choice for a game about the underworld, especially one that seems to prominently feature Pykes, who are always in need of spice runners.
I'm also about 80% sure the fancy (clean) coastal city glimpsed at is Canto Bight, so this game is two for two in ST locations in the OT era! If that pattern holds, I wonder if that means the desert planet is Jakku, or Pasaana, or just Tattooine again? In truth, I suspect that's a new, original planet since the fauna and climate don't quite match any notable and already established planet (maybe Batuu though?)

A few other details that jumped out at me is that Kay has what looks to be either a gang or syndicate tattoo on her collarbone, and a much smaller one of Nix on her wrist. You don't often see illustrative tattoos in Star Wars. They're usually just abstract designs and symbols. The larger one doesn't appear to be any syndicate we already know, which means it's probably a local gang in whatever gutter she grew up in (yes I'm jumping to conclusions, but this character does give more "born street rat" vibes than a "fallen from grace" type.) I guess it could also be either of the Crymorah families, or the Droid Gotra, since out of the major syndicates, I don't think we've seen a symbol for either of those yet.
