Do you think we will see Doctor Boyce in season 2?

Jayson1

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
It doesn't even have to be a big role. Do you think it could even be a something simple as a subspace communication. I am hoping for something bigger and still want to see him. He and Pike were close in the pilot so I feel they need to show him at some point.

Either have his name ever spoken over a loudspeaker, when they visit a Starfleet installment, or a ship named after him shows up on a screen (along with the Kelvin).

Would they ever name drop an Admiral Robau?

I think they could. They could even use the character if they need another Admiral besides April .

No. Boyce was CMO during the incidents of The Cage, which is now 4 to 5 years in the past. I don't see a reason why they'd have such a character return.

Dr Mark Piper who was the CMO in TOS S1 Where No Man Has Gone Before was never seen nor mentioned on screen since that episode.

I mentioned the latter episode as an example of a character that was supposedly a main / major character on the ship; but was in a total of one episode.

Number One meets him in Prison.

The one guy EVER, sent to jail for violating General Order One?

The reason would be that I feel like Pike and Boyce were very close so I don't see why they would loose touch just because Boyce might have retired at this point. I could also see a nice episode even being over Pike returning to Earth to attend Boyce's funeral. Insert some flashbacks. Maybe Pike, Spock and Number One, who also new Boyce, get involved in some caper on Earth while on Earth. Besides the emotional reasons I think it would nice to just go see some day in the life stuff your average non-Starfleet humans do in this time period. I'm always a fan of exploring future Earth in more detail in Trek.

John Hoyt wasn't even 60 when he played Boyce. Hell, he was younger than I am right now! Seems unlikely Boyce would dead in the SNW time frame. Barring some horrible accident or sickness.

If I remember correctly, they lost Paul Fix as Dr. Piper because he was a regular face in the John Wayne pics and was contracted to appear in EL DORADO, which began filming right after WNMHGB finished production.
Roddenberry had already worked with Dee Kelly and hired him when Fix had to leave.

He'll be an unseen character. M'Benga will tell some crew to see Boyce instead because he's too busy, establishing Boyce is still on the ship and just not CMO anymore, just like what will happen to M'Benga himself in TOS. :guffaw:

Or Selar. I think she was name dropped a couple times way after Selar actually showed up.

I wonder why they never brought Selar back. I would say she is someone I would like to return, and maybe still feel that way with the cartoons but I think the actor has died so bringing her back for the Seven of Nine show seems iffy.

We don't talk about it with outsiders.

Selar was played by Suie Plakston, the same actress who played K'Ehlyer, Lady Q and Tarah. Still alive.

That's great news. Now they can bring her back if they want. You know I wouldn't mind seeing Lady Q and Tarah again as well.

She would have been better suited for the gag Combs wanted to do in DOW since they could just slap the wig and ears on her.
