MLB 2023 Season: Rangers are going hunting for Snakes

Ten Cent Beer Night still kills me.

I mean, you've got 25 thousand people, encouraged to drink cheap beer, with the expectation that nothing would go wrong? It's almost mind-boggling.

Although if not for the brawl the Rangers and Indians had had a week before - certainly stoking fan anger - I guess it might not have been so bad. The Indians had actually done promotions like that before (such as Nickel Beer Day iin '71) and they went OK.

Fun fact: Michael Clarke Duncan was at Disco Demolition Night (he was 21). He took a bat from the dugout. And slid into third base.

Cheap beer and disco will git ya every time.

Does anyone here wear a pro fitted baseball cap? Haven't worn one in ages and want to get one, but I'm not sure about proper size. Both the 5/8 and 3/4 cap feel like they fit perfectly. Does that mean they're both fine? Is there anything I need to take into consideration?

I have a 7 5/8 Orioles cap and even though it's ten years old, it still fits perfectly. Really, just go to the store and try hats on until you find one that works.

The Nevada Legislature is meeting tomorrow afternoon--on a federal holiday--to hear SB 509, the A's stadium bill, during a joint session of the Senate Finance and the Assembly Ways and Means committees.

Hello Anthony Rizzo, whaaaaaaat's happening? Ummm, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and NOT BE HURT tomorrow. His neck now? It's usually his back, even after he lost 20 pounds.

Cool beans. Unfortunately he came back to the White Sox.

I've been watching the last two Padres games because they are now run by MLB (Ballys is gone in San Diego) and the presentation is just so much better. I wish all teams were like this.

I watch the Angels on MLB (which shows the Bally Broadcast). I love it.

The Baseball Zen moments are great.

Rather funny watching the Yankees broadcasters react to the concept of eating the grasshoppers in Seattle. They acted pretty much like I expected:

- Michael Kay flat out refused to even try them
- Meredith Marakovits did eat one, but looked extremely creeped out
- Jeff Nelson was happily chowing down. Probably even had seconds.

(For the record, the grasshoppers are delicious, but I don't eat them anymore 'cos they're expensive and you only get a tiny cup of them.)

Agreed.

I watch the Ballys Ohio broadcasts of the Red-Legs (the Bo-Sox are due to go down again!)

The only thing that makes me grit my teeth is when Barry Larkin is doing the side-kick booth shit, almost every other word is 'great athlete, what athleticism' or some other version of the word. Urgg! I have come to pray for away games so I don't have to listen to his repetitive shit.

A U.S. bankruptcy judge ruled in favor of four MLB teams. Diamond Sports Group (Bally Sports) must pay the Twins, Diamondbacks, Rangers and Guardians their full contracts in question.

Diamond had taken on over $8 billion of debt to purchase broadcasting rights for 42 MLB, NBA and NHL teams from Fox in 2019, then the streaming boom hit them hard and forced them into Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization this past March. Diamond owned the rights to 14 MLB teams but lost the Padres when it didn't make its scheduled rights-fee payment.
