So, being a ship nerd, I find the ship they're on (USS Resolute) to be a curious amalgamated hybrid of a Centaur-type (one of my favorite DS9 kitbashes) and, of all things, the USS Ares from Alec Peters' "Axanar" fan film, originally designed by Sean Tourangeau.

in-game it's called a 'modified Centaur-class'.

Diaz's romance option with the redhead (don't remember her name) might be more meaningful if she weren't proposing romance literally the first time you meet her. Yes, presumably Diaz has known her for a long time but the real life player never met her before she proposed a relationship! Did that strike anyone else as odd?

Her name is Miranda.
Alongside the late Commander Sutherland, that makes two people who are named after in-universe ships, Miranda class and USS Sutherland.

On topic, I didn’t find it odd. It dovetails into the world building that we don’t see “a new ship, a new crew” but step into a space with an existing history. For us, this is the second adventure of the Resolute (after the comic) but for the characters it’s like season 3.

Played for a little bit tonight on an XSX at 4K. Overall, it looks better than the preview videos they had prior to release. There have been a few animation stutters, but the models are very detailed. The voice acting has been very good as well. So far, the writing feels very much like a Star Trek story.

Need to put more time into it, but so far I think it's a solid release.

That is old info. Prior to October 2022, Kael and Thomas Marrone announced they were able to use past games' designs. Since then they have came out with two fighter pets, the Valkyrie based on Star Trek Invasion's Valkyrie and the Kodai based on the Star Trek Shattered Mirror's Wraith.

Those are from old games from defunct contracts. The Refit Centaur Class is a commercial asset currently hold by the game producer/distributor. They may not share it with a third-party game company.

I watched the game because I'm generally frustrated by Telltale-style storytelling (notably, the branching narratives that don't go anywhere), but I really enjoyed the story. It felt like a great season of a show that built toward its big threat in a manner that was supported by the entire story, had a nice obscure callback to old Trek, and a cast that was really good.

I bought it basically treating it like buying a season of a show and I hope they get a chance to make a season 'season'.

In the end cinematic, shouldn't my first officer wear Command Red? I had Westbrook. Gotta replay to see what occurs with Urmott and Bedrosian.

What happens to all the Tkon we captured? Like, will Starfleet set up a prison colony? Try to purge the Tkonian from their victims' minds?

I was reading more PC reviews and unfortunately they did say that even on state of the art setups the game will stutter. Ugh. I was gonna buy the PC version but now I'm thinking of getting the PS4 version.

I have the PC version. My current specs are:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor
AMD RX-580 8 GB Video Card
64 GB DDR4 3200 RAM (Dual Channel)
1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD

There are a lot of skips and stutters so far, and I mean during non-interactive scenes as well. It looks like the game needs an optimization pass pretty badly.

I am not impressed at the moment. :/

I'm playing on the PS5. This game started out great, but now it's frustrating me. I've restarted it several times unintentionally because of how the controls are set up. When using the triocrder I can find 2 out of 3 things I'm supposed to scan easily, but I'm wasting time looking for the third one. to the point where the tricorder noise annoyed me so much that I finally had to turn the console off.

I'll keep playing, but I'm going to have to will myself to finish it.

What a great story! The Tkon ship and all the inside environments with those crystals everywhere look amazing, the animation is good, but the music is horrible.
