Game Star Trek Resurgence - new Star Trek videogame announced

I’ve clocked a few hours, no major issues and it plays as you’d expect (a narrative driven story) it’s no AAA game but it doesn’t pretend to be, I had fun playing and that’s the most important part - it was nice to be in the 90s Trek era again.

So, being a ship nerd, I find the ship they're on (USS Resolute) to be a curious amalgamated hybrid of a Centaur-type (one of my favorite DS9 kitbashes) and, of all things, the USS Ares from Alec Peters' "Axanar" fan film, originally designed by Sean Tourangeau.

Ares:

The Resolute has Cantaur's saucer, warp engines and pylons, but with the Ares' longer and attached secondary hull with an identically-recessed forward nav deflector, none of which the Centaur has.

It's funny how the Ares could actually be an ancestor of the Centaur's design lineage - it never occurred to me how similarly they're laid out. Kind of cool.

Anyways, that's just my quick observation. 'Nuff said... as you were... :)

Eating crow here. Not great, wish I had a bit more freedom to explore, but very playable. Especially after taking a couple of muscle relaxers!

IIRC, the Ares was specifically designed as a TOS Centaur (that’s why it had such unusually widely-spaced nacelles, it was following that precedent).

When we first got pictures, my head-canon was that they were splitting the baby, since there was some debate on if the ship should be scaled to the Excelsior pieces or the Reliant pieces. I figured the original studio model could be the smaller one, and the variations of the Resolute meant it was the larger version.

It’s all non-canon so I can believe what I wish, but the prequel comic and the game itself establish it was a stock Centaur-class, and the modifications are the result of extreme repairs that were done before the game starts. I’m not sure how big the in-game model is, in some scenes, it seems Excelsior-sized, but the bridge window seemed to suggest a smaller ship to me. We’ll know soon enough once a modder cracks the models out of the game.

What version did you play as it seems from some reviews now appearing that the PC is the worst version, with stuff like 1080p being the highest res you can pick on the PC version, while other reviews are saying it is more solid overal on consoles, which would really confirm the pc version is a console port.....i might pick it up for the Series xbox when it is on sale, a big sale. Lol

Playing on the Series X. There are occasional framerate hiccups, but seems technically solid beyond that.

I'm open minded about my games but when it freezes up on a black screen when you press X to return to menu in the PC version, then yeah, I start getting concerned...

Installing on my PC at the moment. I hope we get a good look at Starfleet ships.

EDIT: Installed!
Type 6 shuttle (can't make out the registry and name)
USS Centennial NCC-42615 - Excelsior I class
USS Kim- NCC- - Steamrunner class
USS - NCC-72617(?) - Nova class

Mentioned only (previous assignments):
USS Endeavour
USS Adirondack - apparently I've pronounced that wrong my hole life

Warp phrases:
Captain Solano doesn't say his yet.
Commander Rydek's choices: "Enage", "Do it", "Make way".

Yup! It's still on Steam and Ubisoft Connect.

I gotta tell you, the best part of that DLC is when you fight a Borg cube while commanding a Galaxy class ship. It is very difficult (as it should be) to defeat it and I have yet to do it successfully. One day, though!

Have either of you experienced any stuttering yet?
Not at first….. when the menu froze and it reset, I took my laptop on battery mode and it stuttered. I’ll try it plugged into the mains again tomorrow. I got a bit further with the story, and am enjoying it so far. Good story!

I don't play console games but I watch people play such games.
The interaction interface is definitely console-based.

I played it just now for an hour and there are some hiccups here and there but nowhere near as bad as I first thought they were gonna be.

Interesting to hear that the Xbox Series X version has framerate hiccups too. I guess it's a problem for all versions then and not just the PC. That makes me feel better lol.

I've played for about 20 minutes on the PS5 and I love this. It's like being in Starfleet. I really enjoy it. No technical issues so far.

Played for a little bit tonight on an XSX at 4K. Overall, it looks better than the preview videos they had prior to release. There have been a few animation stutters, but the models are very detailed. The voice acting has been very good as well. So far, the writing feels very much like a Star Trek story.

Need to put more time into it, but so far I think it's a solid release.

I think Kael from Cryptic said recently that technically other game companies are still their competitors, so they didn't have any plans to include ships or characters from other games. I think that is even more true for current games than it is past ones.

Awwww! Damn.

Kimball is 52127
The Nova is 72697
Tactical is a little too high for that poor girl, and they still don't get the FC uniforms quite right :D
Spock really is from the original Excelsior, with a shuttle possibly named after Amanda!

It seems you can only get that fixed off-center 3rd person view that I hate so much :(
And the response timer already is running while the other person is still talking... I don't wanna be stressed out all the time in a game :D

Sigh. Playing on PS5. Really had high hopes but feels as if I’ve traveled back in time 20 years. I’ll try again tomorrow but the U/I is odd and the whole thing feels a bit clunky.
