Things that frustrate us all

I went out on a long bike ride today, planning to ride 56 miles, preparing for a half Ironman.

10 miles from home, I get a flat tire. I try to fix it myself, realize my spare tube is a size too big. So I try to get a car through Lyft. Like three times in a row, drivers accept the ride, then cancel it probably because they didn't see the note about having a bike with me at first. So I decide to text my parents finally. My father responds, says he just took muscle relaxants and can't drive, so he has to wait for his girlfriend to get home to be the driver. By then rush hour is picking up. All and all I'm waiting by the side of the road nearly two hours.

Deleted Lyft app right away, that's literally the ONLY situation I need it and drivers flat out refuse to pick you up if you have a bike. One of the people who confirmed then canceled had a f***ing Jeep Cherokee, explain to me why that guy didn't follow through?

I don't buy that. With how narrow the parking lanes are, you can tell they go one way. And you can easily tell which way they go based on the direction of all the parked cars.
Perhaps they like to back into the parking space using their backup cameras? Very common for peeps to do that in my area. Including their driveways at home.

Not when they are driving into the one way street, front first.

When it is a two lane street, I always back my truck in when I park. With a one way, there's no need to back in because there's only one way you can go... the direction of the arrow.

But it's not a one-way street. It's actually illegal to drive the wrong direction on a one-way street. Because it's a public road.
Now, I can only speak to the state I live in, but traffic laws aren't enforceable on private roads or private property. (Which is one reason why gated communities here use speed bumps on their roads to limit speeding.)
So that directional arrow on the parking lot pavement is as legally binding as '10 items or less'. It's a suggestion by the owner of the private lot, not a mandated rule by the state or local government.

And I know a lot of people that like to back into a space because that eases in the towing of the vehicle just in case that parking lot is the place the vehicle has chosen to die.

The lanes that use one way arrows ARE one way because not only do they have an arrow pointing the right direction, the lane is only wide enough for ONE VEHICLE.

And traffic laws do apply in a parking lot, at least here. Otherwise, why would people who don't have the plackard showing on their dashboard/rearview mirror receive a ticket if they park in handicapped spots?

This isn't a big deal, just an inevitable conclusion. We went to get a fish dinner from a local "fast" food place. I ordered a grilled fish dinner with NO Rice. The order taker repeated "no rice". The ticket that came with the Styrofoam container had a handwritten note "no rice" on it. When I opened the container, guess what. I'm diabetic and can't eat rice and it's annoying to pick those grains off my food but it's really not a big deal. Just amazing how often this happens.

When I was training to cut body fat, I greatly confused the server at a restaurant by asking not to include any rice with my order because I wasn't going to eat it, and I don't like wasting food. No, I wasn't asking for a discount. Just leave it off of my plate and I'll still pay full price. I just said "nevermind," and ended up leaving a big untouched scoop of rice on my plate when I was done.

Funny thing that I've experienced that still causes frustration. Resteraunts are not just about food and saving money; they also love the presentation. So, for instance, at my wife and I's favorite steak house she got the wrong order for one part of the meal and they brought out another plate with an additional side because, as they put it, "The managers do not like bringing out a plate with only one thing on it." I was baffled.

I have over 25 mosquito bites on my arms. I can't wear short sleeves for the next several days because it looks like I have some type of horrible disease.

That reminds me of my 23rd birthday...I had just come down with chickenpox and I had a face like a pepperoni pizza. But my girlfriend-at-the-time still made me drive her around all day on errands.

Edit: I just got a call from the Charles Playhouse in Boston...the Blue Man Group concert I was gonna see this September got cancelled. Didn't say why.

That reminds of me of something that was very awkward, when you're out shopping during the height of a pandemic and get something in your throat and have to cough. There were several times that happened, and I practically suffocated because I didn't want to cough until I was sure there were no other people around to see or hear.

Yup. Definitely experienced that.

me too but I used it to my advantage: it is anazing (and amusing) to watch how quickly covidiots that almost sit in your basket suddenly can remember to keep the safety distance if you cough :nyah::evil:

Argh of the day: I live almost next door to the local university and they just announced that their dreaded (because unbearably loud) annual campus open air has been extended from the usual weekend to a full 5 nights this year! If I wasn't an atheist I'd pray for a week of thunderstorms an torrential rain. I might be able to arrange for a little dam break, though...
