When I first saw the title of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor in print, I had never heard the word "fugue" spoken. I thought it was pronounced "fug-yoo."When I was young, it wasn't uncommon for me to encounter a word in print well before I heard it spoken, and wouldn't realize until much later that my pronunciation of the word was wrong.

). I suppose it's likely that signs in bus & subway stations and things like that, would still have English on them. My nephew has been there and he doesn't read Japanese either so what the hell am I worried about.
