    Thank you!

We’ve been waiting for this glorious day to arrive for over 2 decades. It has been a long, soul-crushing ordeal. I just only hope some good comes of it now. It’s going to probably take a couple of seasons to start seeing positive changes happening. Further patience will be required but at least we’re finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Continuing the push into streaming-only, one of the Jan. 13 NFL playoff games will be broadcast by Peacock (and the local NBC stations for both teams).

Matt Ryan joins CBS as an analyst but isn't declaring his retirement yet.

And now I have an idea of questionable comedic value: a quarterback who is trying to maximize his profits by being the first on field analyst/player.

Booth announcer: Wow, what a play. Let's go to our on field analyst, Bill Target. Bill?"

Bill: *gasping, wheezing* Well, Jim, as you can see *pants* I didn't read the option right and ended up buried in the ground. *hack* This next play I'm going to up the middle and see what shakes out."

Apparently, Rodgers and the Packers dumped all of his guaranteed money into next year with a revised contract. Leaving the Jets on the hook for over $100 million dollars in compensation next year.

Brown's accomplishments on the field are still legendary to this day.

Such a shame. News outlets have been broadcasting archive footage of his various interviews over the years. He seemed like a genuinely good and decent guy. :(

Undrafted WR Kade Warner from Kansas State is in camp with the Buccaneers and he's Kurt Warner's son. I'm old.

I'm as guilty as anyone, but we should be more careful about who we put on pedestals.

I was careful to praise only his on-field work for this reason.

    Emergency QB proposal approved.

A quarterback on the 53-man roster (practice squad QB is not eligible even if elevated that week) won't count toward the active players on game day as the emergency QB, but if the active QBs go down due to injury or ejection -- not benching -- he can play. If an injured QB is cleared to play again, the emergency QB must return to the bench.

I just don’t know why teams don’t do a better job with roster construction. I remember teams carrying three QB’s when the rosters only had 46 players.

There are way more specialized positions now than there used to be. There's also more specialized roles/packages within positions than there used to be.

It's the same rule that existed until they changed it some years ago. Used to be 45 active on gameday, with 46th being a QB who, if they came in before the 4th quarter, meant the other 2 couldn't re-enter the game. Straight-up emergency QB rule.

Then they changed it to just you had a 46th active roster spot.

Then some teams didn't bother having a 3rd person who could play QB, and were even more non-competitive then if they had Keith Null in the game and so now the rule is back but as the 47th spot.

Welcome to the NFL, the show where the rules are made up and the points don't matter.

Not something I particularly like. You have a set number of roster spots, using them wisely is part of roster construction.

24 owners, the bare minimum required, voted to add flexing to late-season Thursday night games.

The Jets, Giants, Packers, Bears, Raiders, Lions, Bengals and Steelers owners voted no.

Have they flexed TNF before? It's been some of the worst teams matched up on Thursday nights and I'd hate to think they flexed bad teams into those games.
