Game Star Trek Resurgence - new Star Trek videogame announced

^^^They opened up a can of worms by posting that, and now they are being inundated with so many questions but have not answered any. Lol

Questions being asked...

Price in £ and euro.
How long is the game.
How long until a physical retail release.
Will there be a actual physical retail release at launch.
Is it epic store only or timed exclusive then onto steam.
Any dlc.
Any reviews coming before release.
Is it optimised for next gen consoles.
Why does god need a starship.

Oh my.......lol
I mostly see people repeatedly asking the same questions that have already been answered.

Will there be a physical release at launch? No.
Will there be a physical release later? Possibly.
Is it only available on epic on PC? Yes.
Is there a PS5 version? yes.
Will there be DLC? No

and a couple of people whinging that $40 is very expensive for a game. Which likely means the last time they bought a new game was on PS2.

Same here, since I much prefer to have a physical copy rather than digital. Of all the games I have for PS4 (can't afford to upgrade to PS5 yet), I only have three that are the digital versions: Stray, Jedi: Fallen Order & Jurassic World: Evolution 2. All the rest I have on disc. Some of them took too long to get a physical version (like with Stray), while others (Jedi: Fallen Order), the digital version was cheaper. Though I pre-ordered the physical version of Jurassic World: Evolution 2, it was taking too long to arrive (serves me right from ordering it from China), so I ended up buying the digital version as well (and giving away the physical version when it arrived, since I didn't need two copies of the same game).

Is there a PS5 version? yes.

Has it been confirmed that it's a native PS5 version or just that it's available on PS5? As the two are different.

Also trying not to read into it, but I notice Nicole deBoer is following the Resurgence account on Twitter.. Are we going to see an Ezri in the game?

Physical copies of anything are getting harder to find. Everyone does streaming now. Problem is, you're at the mercy of the company hosting the software/movies. If they unilaterally decide to no longer allow anyone to download something, that's it - it's gone until they decide to magnanimously allow the unwashed masses access at a later date. In the meantime, you're SOL. You don't actually own anything, it's more of a rental. With a disc, you have it forever. The definition of ownership has changed over the years. Adobe was one of the first to go to an annual subscription for software, as opposed to one-and-done offline installers, which I find profoundly irritating, especially considering how expensive their crap is. Can't stand any of it, honestly - pretty disappointed with our "Brave New World", of late.

Physical releases don’t necessarily stop any of this.

Firstly a lot more games are becoming live service but secondly even those that aren’t if you buy a disk often there’s nothing actually on the disk apart from it being a key that allows you to download the game. Eg the latest call of duty. You out the disk in and have to download the whole game or you buy online and download the game. It’s exactly the same files.

Interesting. Okay, that makes sense for games. I guess what I was saying applied more on video and non-game software releases.

It's the future folks, physical will become less and less popular till it disappears completely.
I don't care. After the Jedi Survivor physical release bait-and-switch that EA pulled I'm even more belligerent about the whole thing. Yes, I am aware that my choice doesn't change anything and I'm only "hurting" myself, but it's just the way I am.

$40. That is a red alert right there.

Still don't see it listed on the Xbox store.

This might probably be the first straight up adventure game that Trek's had in almost 30 years since A Final Unity (DS9 Harbinger barely counts as it has a bit too difficult action sequences, including one right at the start). Everything we've had since them have been straight up action games, even Star Trek Online to a large degree. So I'm hoping this one will get back to the 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rites, Final Unity feel of things. We'll see.

You aren't alone, brother!

It's up now on the UK xbox store, states it is optimsed for the series consoles, £35........but i will wait to see hands on reviews first i think, as launching without any finished reviews is usually a sign that it's forgettable at best. lol

Between Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and this game, I'm gonna be plenty busy with games these next couple of weeks! And then of course there's Street Fighter 6 at the beginning of June and then Diablo 4 soon after. So many games! My wallet will be hurting for sure lol.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like it will have very limited replayability. I just hope this doesn't end up being another black eye on Star Trek gaming. Because I would love to see a big open world game someday.
