Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

If the script had said 'the Sol fleet' or 'sector 001' fleet, it would make sense. However celebrating the creation of Starfleet for a semi liberal society like the UFP is too militaristic. Does any real life democracy celebrate the founding of their armed forces?
At that time, it was not a military, since the MACOs still existed and were a separate thing

Although the colonialist mindset of calling it "Frontier Day" has its own set of problematic ideas, as Kira Nerys might have pointed out.

Considering the Federation is an actual colonalist power (since they do have colonies)...then..yeah, it's a Colonial phrase

I think Orla Brady impressed me the most. 12 episodes, 2 completely different roles. Fantastic.

Onscreen, we only saw a couple hundred ships. But DIS S2 established that in the 2250s, Starfleet comprised over 7,000 starships; by the 2400s, it should be even larger to match the increased size of the Federation. Now, Matalas has said that calling it "the entire fleet" is just a bit of hyperbole, as starships attached to duties that could absolutely not be compromised on were still out there. But if we assume that the fleet in Earth orbit comprised something like 75-80% of the fleet, then we probably still need to be talking about something in the area of (and I think this probably conservative) 10,000 starships. I can only conclude that those starships were all orbiting at various locations and altitudes and most of them weren't visible to the naked eye from the orbital coordinates that Sol Station, the Enterprise-G, and the Titan-A were near.

This varies a lot by writer - Micheal Chabon was very clear that he was influenced by The Culture so his version of the Federation has thousands and thousands of ships because that makes sense in a mature post-scarcity polity made up of hundreds of worlds and trillions of citizens.

Not sure we know Jack's surname status. Like Seven's catch phrase, I think it was left unsaid.
Well, we know what Jack looks like in 2409 (Courtesy of Star Trek Online as he was the 'Phaser Guy' on all the ptromotional material when the game launched)...Proof?

Reading a comment in another thread... The Enterprise F should have been the Enterprise E. It would have tracked better with the general intent to 'right the wrongs' of the TNG movies by blowing it up while leaving the D 'intact'.

Terry did an interview with Trek Movie and said Naomi Wildman was supposed to have followed in Sevens footsteps and became a Fenris ranger and he wanted to film with Scarlet Pommers to return as Naomi but the Paramount exsecutives told him no. Same as the cut Soji and Data scene and others Terry has mentioned since the Picard finale was shown recently.
