I like SNW, but it primarily exists for the people who want more of the same old same old instead of shows trying to do something different with Star Trek.
I like STAR TREK - so forgive me if I like a show that gives me what I like?

And there is Star Trek that did 'something different' and that was Star Trek: Discovery where the Captain (at least for the first 3 seasons) wasn't the main focus - and they usually told stories that didn't involve a 'Planet of the Week'; and it got 5 seasons (One still yet to be aired)...

So, my point? Why do you need every version of Star Trek to 'be/do something new'?

Every Star Trek series used to at least try to be something new. TNG was not trying to be a TOS retread, and DS9 certainly wasn't trying to be another TNG. Voyager had a lot of backstory built in to make it its own show, as did Enterprise in its own way. SNW and the third season of Picard, are on the other hand, are trying to give you more of the stuff you already have. I'm not sure it's an approach that's going to age well.

But... but...

I think SNW is doing it’s own thing, much as TNG did. They’re episodic but different than TOS.

Funny, given all the TOS props they had in every background shot during Season ; and the fact in Season 2 they introduced Dr. 'Bones' McCoy...er, I mean female Dr. Katherine Pulaski (Who distrusts Transporters and was by her own admission..."An old Country Doctor..."; (Hmmm...where and in what series did I hear that before?) - and they also tried (and thankfully quickly abandoned) to do the McCoy/Spock 'friendly but adversarial' type relationship with Pulaski/Data (because they realized Data was NOT being written or played like Spock...)

And yeah that was the first 48 episodes on TNG (Season 1 and 2)...

So yeah, did you actually WATCH TNG?

If I may draw your attention to the link below?
You might find something pretty interesting, that's out in the open right now.
I'd guess, that keeps the discussion more than alive for the next weeks. I, at least, have had an entertaining weekend,

The best only thing about fan films is making them. Writing a plot and seeing it come to life while helping others also bring their dream to life.
It's the AWE in awesome, folks adding their thoughts and skills from different points on the map to one goal.... collecting a couple million and getting sued along the way. That's entertainment!

I'm betting that shell company is how he's been able to keep himself afloat all this time. Would be interesting to see a more detailed look of his financials and find out whether or not any of the initial kickstarter money ended up in there or not.

As far as the rest of that CF goes, I haven't read a whole lot of it, but what I have seems be to standard Alec for ya - his narcissism hasn't abated one iota.

I received an email from Ares Studios on Sunday. According to it, "CBS has made a concerted effort to target Ares Studios, claiming that it is part of Axanar and trying to scuttle the fundraising efforts that pay the monthly rent." As a result, Ares Studios is installing a new management structure and removing Alec and Crysstal from any involvement with the studio. "It will just insulate the studio from unscrupulous individuals who have a vendetta against Axanar."

The changes are as follows:

(1) New team for oversight.
(2) A new president for the Studios. The person is unnamed, but will be announced shortly. The announcement says it is a space veteran with experience raising money for 591c(3)s.
(3) A new store only selling non-Axanar related items (Jewish Space Laser Corps, etc.). The new management will decide if the new store will sell axanar-related merchandise.
(4) The Studios will continue to work with fan films and the Gwinnett County School System.

It then asks the recipient to donate $2/month to the studio Patron, with a link.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like CBS called their attorneys about violations of the settlement agreement. I could be wrong, however.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this email, but thought the announcement was interesting.

Yeah, truthfully I saw that too on the Facebook which inspired my post. Just when you think they've reached maximum bullshit it turns out they've still got plenty in the tank.
