I got some mixed feelings considering that a fourth star trek movie can't get off the ground but they seem to get this off the ground relatively easy.

Well, "relatively" is a relative term- they've been trying to get this balloon into the air for 5 (?) years now.

I'm glad they are going this route, if they had to do it at all. It seems that Kurtzman was determined to make this happen, and definitely after Yeoh won the Academy Award, Paramount Plus wants some of that prestige. I think a movie event is a better way to go than trying to make this a series, because I didn't think a series, especially one with Emperor Georgiou as the lead, would be sustainable. Her story was too convoluted to build a series around.

Kurtzman takes a lot of abuse from some corners of the internet, and I haven't always agreed with his decisions, but I do like his willingness to be innovative. I thought Short Treks was a neat idea and I've long wanted Trek to do more animation (especially something geared toward younger viewers to expand Trek's audience), and I've even wanted a Starfleet Academy series as well. Now, if the Section 31 movie works, perhaps we could get even more special event movies. It would be a great way to get a Earth-Romulan War movie, a Sulu/Chekov Excelsior movie, a Harriman/Demora Sulu Enterprise-B movie, a DS9 reunion movie, a Captain Worf movie, and so on.

This is good news and I'm looking forward to it. Michelle Yeoh is great and a movie interests me more than a section 31 series ever did. It sounds like the script has been written, and possibly had to be approved by Yeoh, so the movie idea has likely been in the works for a while.

I hope this will lead the way for more Star Trek TV movies... Maybe a follow up to a Enterprise, Voyager or DS9 character, or stuff like that. The options are endless!

I'm surprised they haven't done more Paramount+ Movies. If they can't get a theatrical movie off the ground, I guess P+ is the next best thing.

Do you watch Prodigy?
I've seen the first season. It started out a little rough, but once I got into it, I found it be one of the best first seasons of any Trek and one of the strongest CBS/Paramount Plus Trek series. I wasn't much of a Janeway fan before, but I'm more of one now (some of Kristen Beyer's Voyager books also helped in that regard too).
