Spoilers Red Alert. Images from the Finale are leaking online. Get off twitter, reddit, and youtube ASAP.

Again I will ask: why is everyone talking about ‘Legacy’ like it’s a thing? Matalas point-blank stated that it’s just an idea of his that CBS/Paramount has nothing to do with. It is just his self-indulgent fantasy to which he has admitted.
Because people like the fantasy.

The 32nd century storyline was the final coffin nail for this iteration of the franchise. It failed, CBS even had to slam the brakes by canceling the show prematurely.
Academy is set in the 32nd Century. Try harder.

we know that these shows never reached the Nielsen Top 10 though.
No we don't. Nielson wasn't tracking Paramount+ until this year. Do you live in your own pocket reality?

As of now, maybe. They will reconsider…
Nope, they won't.

It's more than Terry Matalas' wish. Other people, including actors, producers, writers etc., on Picard have said they would love to continue on a Legacy show. Even Kurtzman himself said it was possible, depending on the reactions from fans to this season... So, nothing is announced or planned as of now, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen in the next couple of years...

Of course it's possible.

But nothing is slated currently. I won't hold my breath.

I wouldn't either, but if this season of Picard is really doing as well as some people say it is, then I do think Paramount will notice that... We'll see. If it happens, we won't see it until at least three or four years from now... Such things take a lot of time.

In regards to Star Trek Legacy....

Yes. It's just something that both Matales and some of the actors have expressed interest in.
No. It's not something that is currently in active development by Paramount/CBS.

However....

They're not stupid. Social media is something that is on the radar of studios these days. They ARE aware of what fans want. Not because they are even remotely interested in fans and willing to please them. They are however willing to follow potential income.
You can bet your ass that Paramount/CBS is aware of the growing interest in Star Trek Legacy.
Us fans however, often think that because 20-30 people on this forum requesting it, and about a 100 people actively tweeting about it, means ALL fans want it. Studios have small armies constantly looking into the total, global picture of what can or cannot make them money.

So yes, Terry pitched it. Actors have expressed interest. Paramount/CBS is aware. Wait about 6 months until the last episode of season 3. If this entire #startreklegacy is still a hot item, they're going to be willing to LOOK INTO THE POTENTIAL OF IT. Not actually start active development.

*EDIT TO SAY* The exact Dutch time I posted that was 17:01 hours over here. This is the way.

Legacy.
Us fans however, often think that because 20-30 people on this forum requesting it, and about a 100 people actively tweeting about it, means ALL fans want it.
In my humble opinion this needs ti be reemphasised.

Yes!!!, another discoverse show getting sidelined with a „special presentation“

Now don’t stop there: turn the 32st century Starfleet Academy series into a 5 minute Short Trek episode and i am happy!

Kurtzman is officially toast…

Delusional springs to mind... Don't know why...

lol Kurtzman is toast, yeah okay. This is doomclock ranting about Kathleen Kennedy level ragewank

Come on, you can’t be that gullible, the Section 31 project was abandoned long ago. Now Yeoh got the Oscar, so they greenlight a one off show, to feed on her success.

It was supposed to be a real show, which now got damped down to a streaming tv movie.
