Spoilers The Mandalorian Season 3

Did Grogu scoffing that box of snacks give anyone else "hungry mogwai after midnight" vibes? Maybe it's just something about the sound he was making . . .
Plus it's Xander Berkley. He's always good no matter what material they give him. Last thing I saw him in was Walking Dead. I am thrilled he's who they got for Pellaeon
Wait, they got Todd to play Pellaeon? Talk about range!
Was that a Meiloorun that Grogu squished?
Yup. Though they've had those props knocking around since at least BoBF.

The actor playing Brendol Hux, is the brother of the actor who plays the character’s son in the sequels

Esposito looks way better without the moustache.

Praetorians! Yes! Also, Imperial Supercommandos which is a cool idea to see against the Mandalorians.

This episode pretty well impressed me.

In the end credits concept art, they're even drawn in the original Supercommando design. Which was seen in Rebels.

I thought the praetorian guards having Mandalorian helmet designs was a bit fan wanky, as was Moff Gidion going almost full Mandalorian armor. Why not keep imperial designs? Just because they used beskar they have to look like Mandalorians too?

Gideon, so far, has seemed to both have it out for the Mandalorians as well as trying to become the TOP Mandalorian at the same time. Them using the Mando designs is on point for that but also, better to stick with proven designs than try to mold your Stormtrooper armor or other armor into Beskar where it might not be as good?

So, depending on how long The Mandalorian runs, could we potentially see the birth of the First Order? I mean, that's the way we know it's all heading. IIRC, the First Order was established 35 or so ABY and aren't we about 10 years ABY at this point?

Great episode this week.

Just out of interest; on the left we have the Imperial Supercommando design from Rebels, in the middle we have the new "Phase 4 Darktrooper" (or whatever they're officially calling it) and on the right we have the unused* Tiber Saxon helmet design. The new one is clearly more 'Tiber' than 'SC', but there's also the classic Stormtrooper "cheek tubes", and they connected the visor with the vertical slit to make a proper T-visor.
Also, it a little hard to get a good look at it, but the blasters they're using look new too. Like they're half way between the old E-11D and the much later F-11D. Also noted sidearm holsters, which is rare for Imperial troopers.

* Not sure why they didn't use it. I can only guess that they didn't have to spare budget for an asset that would only be in one shot, so never built it, and instead just used the Jumptrooper helmet asset they already had on file.

I'm thinking Gideon was a mandalorian. Maybe part of the clans that collaborated with empire in Rebels before the purge.
We already know they did. It was Clan Saxon.

Eh. The First Order was "born" at the Battle of Jakku, which is already 4 or 5 years back at this point. They didn't emerge as a known entity into the rest of the galaxy until 20-odd years later, and by that point, a huge chunk of the Republic up and joined them.

What we're seeing here is Thrawn's attempt to rally the surviving Imperial Remnant factions into something cohesive and effective. Bit of a challenge considering they're all really only out for themselves (Gideon included) and he clearly knows it, because of course he does, but also because he's deliberately keeping them at arm's length. I suspect he'll just be using them as a distraction to occupy the New Republic forces--such as they are--while he puts his larger strategy into action, whatever that might be.

If anything, the First Order will be Hux's faction that presumably survives this adventure and splits off from the rest, presumably retreating back into the Unknown Regions with the Eclipse. Whether we'll get any direct link with Snoke asserting control remains to be seen. There's already plenty of potential seeds been planted for it, but we'll see.

THAT was a fun episode! Mentions of Grand Admiral Thrawn, seeing Captain Pellaeon, the sand/water skiff, the "yes yes yes yes yes" button on the IG-12 was hilarious, lots of adventure, some intrigue, and some terrific action between Mandalorians and the Dark Troopers, with an epic send-off for Paz Vizsla. This was a great all around episode, and I can't wait to see what's next!

Indeed and it makes me very excited to see where it goes.

This episode just was something I found very fun.

Grogu: There's only room for one adorable critter in this office!

Also Grogu: I do what I want!

That was a good episode but I’m disappointed that this new Hux isn’t played by a Weasley. I
No way. They had a far better casting choice: Brian Gleeson, Domhnall's brother!

I'll admit, I didn't see Krang Grogu coming.
Oh, of course. I knew that visual looked familiar. Brilliant! :D

I was genuinely shocked that was him. I've always loved his work but he completely disappeared into that role. Even when I rewound to watch that scene again, I still didn't quite recognize him.

  • Grogu misbehaving and blasting the “yes” "no" buttons = funny AF
  • Hope this is a 1-2 episode mech-thing only and that he (eventually) gets a badass Mando armor himself (my endgame: little Grogu in little Mando armor :adore:)
  • Din's "we (death watch Mando's) don't care about the dumb lightsaber/sword/saber - we believe, because unificaiton/leadership/loyalty... "your song is not written yet and I'll serve you until it is" was really well done.
  • Thought there was even a hint of romance (ugh) when he addressed her as Lady ... (but maybe that's a general SW/royalty thing I'm not aware of)
  • IMO Season 2 (droid) darktroopers were much harder to beat and more fearsome than than this season 3 version - was it mentioned what was inside them now? are these droids/humans/clones?
  • was expecting more spies/betrayal from the title "the spies", maybe more will be revealed in the season 3 finale next week.
the plot logic TM (or at least time passed between)
Greef Karga: "Hey Mandos, we (Nevarro) need protection from Pirates and Co. Here is land to settle and make a new home, invite your fellow Mandos..."
Mandos show up: "thanks..." we'll go/resettle Mandalore within 1-2 episodes later...

That's how Anakin addresses Padme, as a Senator. Strikes me as formally appropriate.

I mean they are shown to be very nomadic.
