That was my thinking for how they got to the edge of federation space in a few hours in the first episode of the season.
Yeah, the warp scales are logarithmic, so the actual speed increases exponentially with the warp factor. Top speed of Titan was Warp 9.99 according to dialogue in episode 1. That would be significantly faster than Voyager's top speed of 9.975.The ship can do warp 9.9. On the other hand, warp speeds and distances in Trek are very fudged in general anyway. "Speed of plot" and all that.
But again, yes, the fact max warp has increased so much does make fast travel within Federation space much more feasible than in 90s Trek.

I've seen them and I'm a little let down, but I want to see how it turns out before declaring the sky is falling.

Obviously. But it's a lack of respect for everybody involved in the creation of the story. Still, if folks want to pour water on anticipation, who am I to argue. Though I will grumble and shake my head.
I agree this is the case about stuff that is legitimately out there.
