Are these guys for real? They want to build the Enterprise

I got tricked by the thumbnail image, very anticlimatic

I don't think it will happen

There used to be a poster on here who proposed building a real-life Enterprise, to scale and everything. It'd be built on the ground (allowing walk-throughs by fans and the like), but would be designed to be spaceworthy. His idea was to retrofit it with warp drive later on — whenever that was invented.

I think he was trying to prompt "Star Trek" to make itself come true.

There were plans for building a full scale Enterprise hotel in Las Vegas in the 90s, it had the financial backers and could have happened.

Paramount declined because if the hotel wasn't a big success, they hated the idea of a decaying USS Enterprise being a major eyesore in Las Vegas

BTE Dan I think:

I would build a Phil Bono saucer:

Sea Dragon upper stage for the secondary hull:

—and two starships for nacelles:

Hook them together with struts…and you have a 21st Century NX-01.

He wanted to dismantle and launch them with HLLVs…to get a good replica.

I would just use stage-and-a-half rocket bodies to just approximate the general shape—-quicker.

ETs were to build a station:
http://www.astronautix.com/s/stsexternaltankstation.html

Gene Meyers of Space Island group wants to do that with Artemis SLS cores….the first core made it 1,800 kilometers up…had it circularized it could orbit about half that far or so…two of them for nacelles maybe.

The Bono saucer would be toughest…but gives you wide shallow payloads for space solar power maybe.

See page 6, figure 12 here on what would have been the closest Enterprise shape any real rocket could have:

https://www.aiaa.org/docs/default-s...ttlevariationsfinalaiaa.pdf?sfvrsn=b8875e90_0

That should have been the TOS-R version of a DY-100…with a supergirl Khan derived to take the whole stack into orbit in place of liquid hydrogen, say.

You could have a little Enterprise next to the big one.

And something like that could have launched in the 1990s had Bill Gates pushed like Elon Musk.
