But it's a show made for Tilly. I know how Kurtzman thinks. I know why he's making this new show. It will be new S T D with a lot of tears and crazy social ideas.
Please stop in your tracks........and think before continuing down the road you are on.......

Cool so i guess you won't be watching it then. As for crazy social ideas, that's been par for the course since 1966. But we all know what you really mean is seeing minority groups being treated equally.

Then don't watch. Isn't that the easiest solution for you? Clearly there is an audience for the kinda show you think it will be, so why can't they get a show they'll enjoy? Why does Star Trek only have to pander to people like you?

That kind of canon abuse was very jarring when STD first came on cause we were all starved for a new Star Trek for nearly 2 decades.
"Starved for a new Star Trek for nearly 2 decades"? Disco premiered only one year after the last Trek movie. But even if we assume you mean televised Trek, than Disco premiered twelve years after Enterprise ended. Twelve years is only a little over one decade, not "nearly two."
Oh so leaving Terry out are they, jealous of his success this season?

Btw, do you think that it will be called Star Trek: Starfleet Academy or just Starfleet Academy?

I think that it will be called ‘Starfleet Academy’, like Enterprise was just called ‘Enterprise’ until ironically Kurtzman (I think?) chimed in and the show was rebranded as ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’.

Maybe if the Academy show goes downhill they will rebrand it with Star Trek again?
The whole naming issue with Enterprise was UPN's doing. They at first insisted on leaving Star Trek out of the title and just calling the show Enterprise because they wanted the show to be watched by non-Trek fans and were worried having Star Trek in the title would scare them away. Then, when the ratings had plummeted by the end of the second season, UPN had the "brilliant" idea to add Star Trek to the show's title, because Star Trek is a globally recognized brand name and it will attract viewers to the show.

I feel confident we aren't getting another Trek series that leaves Star Trek out of the title again. Especially not now where the shows proudly tout the fact that they're Star Trek to the point of having an animated graphic logo at the start of each episode to advertise it.

What are you talking about? I'm also minority group.

And? Last a saw, the "Proud Boys" have more then a few POC amongst their ranks. Just because you're a minority, doesn't mean you can't work against your own interest.

Oh wait, you mean the arbitrary decision that the TOS redesign is fine, and the JJ Trek redesign is fine, but Disco is too far because...reasons?
Klingons being arbitrarily redesigned is nothing new. And has had some horrific results in comics...

There are basically only four types of live-action Klingon looks: the TOS ones with the unfortunately darkened skin, the Christopher Lloyd/Michael Dorn ones with foreheads as distinct as a fingerprint, the Kelvin redesign, and the Discovery redesign (which was later re-redesigned a bit). Ideally there would be one look, but at least the makeup upgrade was acknowledged in DS9 (a very good thing) and explained in Enterprise (a... less well-regarded thing). Picard did a similar thing with the Romulan makeup, acknowledging the difference and turning it into new lore (a very good thing).

In conclusion: Discovery's new Klingons were a terrible idea that alienated existing fans for very little benefit and they haven't done anything to retroactively justify them, but the rest of Star Trek has moved past them so

No worse than TMP. TMP is ugly as fuck. But, if you accept the ENT genetic engineering tale (BS at its finest but hey, it's canon) then the sky's the limit.
Well, the Discovery makeup was harder to act in so they're not exactly equal. But yeah, if you can have Vulcans (humans with pointy ears) and Deltans (humans without pointy ears) in a movie, viewers would've gotten over the Klingons not looking truly alien.

Personally I have the benefit of being born after 1979, so I never had a chance to be outraged about the TMP change, and honestly I think that new look has settled in fine. Enterprise was even on the verge of doing something with the differences in the two appearances when it was cancelled! But I obviously empathise with anyone who was annoyed by it.

Which is the only strike against it.

Seeing as how Klingons looked human to begin with I'm not sure what there is to "get over." Wanting a more alien look is apparently the outlier here.

and honestly I think that new look has settled in fine.
The look constantly changes. That's the point. There is a wide variety of Klingon looks and that should be welcome in a franchise that espouses diversity!

I just take it as a different artistic aesthetic—Ditko Spider-Man, Romita Spider-Man, Buscema Spider-Man or Adams Batman, Aparo Batman, Jim Lee Batman…

If ever there is a production with many Klingons with most of the variations in place simultaneously, then I guess the ENT “explanation” will suffice.

Sorry, I mean new audiences in particular, the people they were trying to win over with more elaborate makeup.

Diversity is great, that's why it's cool that there are two varieties of Romulan. Change is great... in universe. Makeup should evolve with technology... to look more natural. The Bajoran and Cardassian makeup evolved (subtly) until they settled into a good look, and I love the Enterprise-era Andorians. You can even get away with changing the look of an entire alien race overnight if it's the Trill, because who gave a damn about the Trill until DS9?

Discovery had an opportunity to make the humans look different in season 3, but to do that and not explain it would've been bloody strange and I feel the same way about any species I have any kind of memory of (not the TNG Trill).

So basically change is great so long as it's an alien species people don't care about and if you don't have a memory of the alien?
