The Terry Matalas as Star Trek Showrunner Petition

Academy will probably act as the third of the three live action shows (SNW (first class) likely New Legacy Show (business class) and then Academy (economy class):whistle:to keep a younger audience on side. I wouldn't be surprised if they stick resident Gen Z melodrama expert Michelle Paradise back in as showrunner. Tilly as a lead? You know it's coming...:nyah::barf:
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau are co-showrunners.

There's a thread running in "Future of Trek" about SFA and the writers attached as co-showrunner and writer of the pilot.

I hope this shitty Tilly 32rd century Academy show won't negatively effect to Terry Matalas future projects. He needs good assets.

The only thing that will affect it is availability of funds and the people he wants to cast.

Money being the first priority.

And I'm happy to revise my abbreviation when more is known. Until then though, I'll just call it as I see on the information we have at the moment, 90210.
Or you could just call it by its real name so people don’t have the decipher what you’re saying.

Shouty obnoxious people almost always get the attention. That hasn't changed in 1000's of years.

Because it works. And they know it does.

I am of the opinon that Terry should get a blank check to do a post picard s3 series based on his skill he has shown with season 3. I will try the TillyTrek Star Trek Academy but if they abuse canon they way they did with STD I won't enjoy it at all.

Picard Season 3 has many of the things that some fans claim they hate about Discovery and the earlier seasons of Picard like bloated mystery box storytelling and endless forcefeeding of memberberries and the Federation/Starfleet being somewhat morally ambiguous and easily compromised. Jack is a gary-stu chosen one who develops powers as the plot requires. It's a big action blockbuster about a terrible threat to the entire Federation and there are none of the much desired standalone episodes featuring a planet of the week that the fans crave so much.

But it has kewl ships that 'respect design lineage' and LCARS displays and it mentions the Dominion War. More importantly it has a white guy commanding the ship. The black women are kept in subservient positions and aren't telling white male superior officers what to do and It also has no gay male characters. The non-binary character, Esmar is just in the background taking orders and not making a big hoohah about being non-binary.

Let's just cut through it. We all know why The Fandom Menace reviewers are absolutely loving this season. Terry Matalas has shown he respects the conservatism of 90's Trek and they think any Trek he produces will be void of all the 'woke' things they despise.
I sure wish I could give this post multiple Likes. So much truth here.

Call it SFA, it's 40% more efficient to type and people will know what you're talking about.

I can hear the announcer's voice right now:

"Next time, on SFA: Cupid's arrow hits the cadets, on Staaaaaaar Trek 90210! I mean S-F-Aaaaay"
:rommie:

if they abuse canon
Sigh.
It’s impossible, literally, to “abuse canon”. Canon is what appears onscreen in an official Trek production. It has zero requirements beyond that one. It doesn’t have to make sense, be in sync with previous versions of onscreen Trek…it can even contradict itself within the episode or movie. Doesn’t matter. The word you are looking for is “continuity”. And if it seems overly pedantic and picayune to point out the difference between the two words—well, it is. But…no more so than repetitive observations about “ruining, breaking, abusing, violating, crapping all over” and any other over the top complaints about “the canon”. If one is going to the trouble of complaining about errors in minutiae, one should at the very least be using the correct terminology (lest one further generate errors in minutiae).

Show me on the canon where they touched you.

Yeah, this is a little dramatic.
Well ST:D soured me the second I saw the absurd "redesigned" Klingons.

That kind of canon abuse was very jarring when STD first came on cause we were all starved for a new Star Trek for nearly 2 decades. I am convinced if Discovery did not mess with established canon the fan angry and outcry at the time regarding the new canon Discovery introduced would have been fine for most fans.

I never deified him.
Well, I'll admit that you never literally called him a god. But you came close. The idea was there.

The ironic thing is that we're on the same page in some ways. I, too, would love a live action 25th century follow-up to Picard S3. One of things I've loved about the current season is the follow-up to the Dominion war. We never really got a good follow-up to the quadrant shaking events of DS9 and the war. Would be great to see some more.

Again, dramatic. Have your opinions on whatever Star Trek, I don’t care. However, this is not the forum for discussion on Discovery. We have one of those. Right above this one, in fact.

Second, as @Ovation stated above, it’s literally impossible to “abuse canon.” Hence… drama.
