Spoilers Who is the mastermind in Season 3 of Picard?

Apparently The Face's identity was included in the closed captioning in an episode that Paramount had to go back in and patch over.

As was the Borg queens name apparently

Iirc it was about a voice in Jack's visions, not about the scene with Vadic and the entity.

The FC queen's organic components, along with those of the other drones in Engineering, was dissolved by plasma coolant. Where did it go then? Did she survive as gooblobstuff? :D

I postulated in the recent episode thread a Reman of some sort. Vadicks ship is reminiscent of the Scimitar from Nemesis and also the added bonus of dealing with a Picard clone there as well.

Perhaps the face is the Borg King?

Another thought. Perhaps Nagilum from "Where Silence Has Lease".

I though about this too, but Nagilum was more an amoral malevolence who wanted to experiment on sentient beings, not seek revenge against them.

Armus would be a good choice, but he seemed pretty isolated. Maybe a ship crashed on his planet that was still in good enough shape for him to commandeer.

The mastermind is Minuet. Moriarty, in conjunction with rogue Binars, gave her back her sentience, and then she got upset that Riker married Troi instead of her, so now she wants revenge on the Federation. She hired Skullface to do her dirty work for her, and he subcontracted a bounty hunter, Vadic, to carry it out. They claim they're after Picard to throw off the scent. It's really Riker they're after. And that's why he's captured now, along with Troi. Vadic and Skullface are to bring Riker and Troi to Minuet, who'll exact her revenge on both of them.
