I am aware. The refit does have a bigger warp core.
Doug Drexler designed the refit and worked on this show.

The design is growing on me. I disliked it for the longest time but after building a model of it, I've certainly softened my view.I really dislike that they snuck the NX-01 refit idea into this. It looks awful, plus I prefer to think that they decided to add secondary hulls in later designs that featured much larger warp cores than Enterprise's.
Yeah, it must be a recreation. It leads me to wonder if the Defiant at the museum is supposed to be the former Sao Paulo, or a recreation of the original Defiant that was destroyed.Wasn't it destroyed?
Wasn't it destroyed?
This exhibit features the USS Saratoga NCC-1887 which was salvaged and restored to replicate the USS Saratoga NCC-31911 which was destroyed at the Battle of Wolf 359. The exhibit features restored sections of both eras of Miranda-class ships

I like the NX-01 refit, it looks like a prototype Constitution-class and it makes sense that the NX-01 would under go a refit during its tenure and technology advances as well.
It was probably added sometime between Terra Prime (2155) and the decommissioning (2161). Probably happened prior to or during the Romulan War. It would've shown up in Season 5 had Enterprise went for Season Five.Of course this also begs the question: why did they add a secondary hull to a ship that was already decommissioned before the formation of the Federation?
This is almost certainly what the NX-01 looked like during the events of "TATV...(ENT)." We never saw the outside of the ship during the unofficial rescue mission that resulted in Trip's death but I'm guessing the Drexler Refit design was what the ship looked like.
We saw a graphic of the Enterprise in Star Trek III and it's the TOS ship. They forget to update their graphics sometimes!
My problem with the NX-01 refit is that it's another example of the series rushing to get from 2151 to 2266 in just 10 years.
Enterprise era to TOS era. They weren't satisfied with bringing Archer's Starfleet merely 5%-10% of the way to Kirk's Starfleet during their series, they wanted phasers, transporters etc. and the refit means they also jumped to ships with a Constitution-class style saucer and secondary hull design in the NX era.2151 to 2266?
Seeing the Space Shuttle fight the Rommies would've been awesomeYeah, I didn’t like the NX-refit at first either but it grew on me enough that I bought the Eaglemoss version of it.
My head canon for it is Enterprise was being used to test out stuff like the secondary hull…sort of how the Space Shuttle Enterprise was a testbed but it got pressed into service when the Romulan War broke out.
But it doesn’t use parts from other kits. The engineering hull is wholly original. It’s not a kitbash.Looks like a bad kitbash to me. And I know bad kitbashes.![]()
That’s not true. Doug pitched the idea of a refit, but the show was cancelled before he got any word back. He also didn’t design the refit until after the series ended. It would've shown up in Season 5 had Enterprise went for Season Five
IIRC stuff like that was a mandate from the network executives, not the showrunners or creatives of Enterprise. The network wanted something familiar to the audience.Enterprise era to TOS era. They weren't satisfied with bringing Archer's Starfleet merely 5%-10% of the way to Kirk's Starfleet during their series, they wanted phasers, transporters etc.
