Spoilers The Starfleet Museum

What ships will we see in the Starfleet Museum?

1. A Franz Joseph dreadnought (teased in episode 1),

Very unlikely, given the history animosity between the FJ estate and Paramount Global, but the teaser suggests it's possible.

2. An Ambassador class, or any kinds of variants thereof,

A solid choice.

3. Some original fan-made older designs,

Not going to happen unfortunately, too much of a legal minefield

4. FASA designs,

Unlikely for similar reasons, but arrangements have IIRC been made in the past, so...

5. A Huron-type TAS freighter,

Hard to see why such a craft would warrant a place in the museum, but there are no legal issues.

6. And of course the Enterprise-D saucer.

All good with me.

I'd include the Kelvin and the mid-22nd century Franklin and pretty much unchanged from their Kelvin Timeline appearances. Because those ships and the Franklin's disappearance into the Gagarin Radiation Belt still happened in the Prime Timeline.

I love Simon Pegg but his idea that the timeline was changed moving backwards in time as well is just, well, no. Screw that junk.

I would have liked for the Franklin to turn up as well.

I don't much care for the external appearance of the ship, but I freaking LOVE the interior.

As for the Ambassador class, I wish the museum had included one as well. And by that I mean the Ambassador as it REALLY was supposed to look (i.e. as it was modelled on the Ent-D's briefing room wall), not the hastily-thrown-together-at-the-last-minute compromise we actually got in TNG.

I'm glad Lower Decks gave us very tiny image of a Daedalus

DSC got there first. There's a model of one in Sisko's office.

Well, they went with that idea in Picard Season 2. That's why Guinan didn't recognize Picard.

I believe the intent was that, in the Confederation timeline, none of the trips to the past we saw in TNG (including Time's Arrow) actually happened. So THAT is why Guinan didn't know Picard - since his Confederation counterpart didn't travel back in time to meet her.

IIRC, after the Federation timeline was restored, Guinan once again recognized Picard.

Yeah, I am aware of the legal issues. Although they could make a dreadnought variant like on the cover of the novel “Dreadnought!” Or better yet, a three-nacelled Galaxy class like in AGT.

They could use fan designs from the SOTL calendars, since those belong to CBS/Paramount.

Not so sure it’s as problematic any more. They did show a FASA Loknar class in LDS.

Hard to see why such a craft would warrant a place in the museum, but there are no legal issues.

It would be more of a tribute to TAS, since all the other shows had a ship tributed in the museum.

There is one tiny mistake on the Enterprise-A model. It's missing the windows for the auditorium or whatever it is, on the rear of the saucer. They instead just mirrored the windows from the other side.

I'd prefer the former, particularly if we get the E-D saucer.

While some of those artists are also fans, if they were commissioned by Paramount Global or its predecessors then they're not legally fan designs.

But yeah, one or more of the more creative SotL designs would be cool.

Fair enough.

It would be more of a tribute to TAS, since all the other shows had a ship tributed in the museum.

That works out of universe, I'd prefer designs that have obvious or explicable in-universe profile, but YMMV.

So getting back to the Starfleet museum, were there any ships you would have liked to see that weren’t shown? Other than seeing the Enterprise-A, the Defiant, the NX refit, the Constellation class and Voyager, I was pretty underwhelmed with the rest of the ‘relics.’ I would have liked to see:

1. A Franz Joseph dreadnought (teased in episode 1),

2. An Ambassador class, or any kinds of variants thereof,

3. Some original fan-made older designs,

4. FASA designs,

5. A Huron-type TAS freighter,

6. And of course the Enterprise-D saucer.
