Ha! He's crabby enough to be one.Shaw is a changeling.
Cardies, spoon heads, and such were used in TNG and DS9. Humanity hasn't changed that much.I understand Captain Shaw is written to be cheeky and irreverent, but I found his recent reference to the Changelings as "Goo People" a bit much, especially as he's a Starfleet Captain on a ship with many alien races. Dislike your enemy for what their actions, Shaw, not for what they look like. I would have thought he'd read enough Earth history to know that.
Yeah, maybe Shaw can finally get Starfleet to wipe out all those nasty Hortas infesting Janus IV while we're at it—they don't look anything like us.Cardies, spoon heads, and such were used in TNG and DS9. Humanity hasn't changed that much.
Thats next season.Yeah, maybe Shaw can finally get Starfleet to wipe out all those nasty Hortas infesting Janus IV while we're at it—they don't look anything like us.
Considering he actually deadnames his second in command, I think we have to accept Shaw isn't a particularly enlightened individual.I understand Captain Shaw is written to be cheeky and irreverent, but I found his recent reference to the Changelings as "Goo People" a bit much, especially as he's a Starfleet Captain on a ship with many alien races. He's not. He's a 21st century person. The acceptance of him in the fan base is quite fascinating to watch. The actor says as much about how Shaw was written, and the inspiration from his father he took in his performance.Considering he actually deadnames his second in command, I think we have to accept Shaw isn't a particularly enlightened individual.
Well Kirk and Company were on board with that for most of "The Devil In The Dark".Yeah, maybe Shaw can finally get Starfleet to wipe out all those nasty Hortas infesting Janus IV while we're at it—they don't look anything like us.
Am I the Only One Who Desperately Craves a Captain Shaw Series?
Tons of people want both shows.Probably, along with the one other guy who desperately craves a Section 31 series.
We all have our thing.Probably, along with the one other guy who desperately craves a Section 31 series.
I don't know anything about them except for Shaw, Seven, and La Forge. How are they "fleshed out"?The sad fact is the Titan bridge crew is more fleshed out in 6 episodes than the Discovery bridge crew. And that's sad.

Shaw is similar to O'Brien and his struggles with bigotry reflect O'Brien and the Cardassians in the Wounded.
Just like we never saw Jellico during his normal time on the Cairo, we also never saw Shaw before Picard and Riker stormed their way on board. So yes, it is absolutely possible that Shaw is a good captain in his own right.
