Am I the Only One Who Desperately Craves a Captain Shaw Series?

I think most audiences enjoy the character trope that is the deadpan snarker. It's common in all branches of fiction. Shaw In Picard exists as a kind of soft antagonist though. We aren't supposed to side with him as it's his function to stand in opposition to the heroes. He's a Jellico in other words.

Do I enjoy Shaw in PIC? Yes, absolutely. Do I want to see a spin-off show about a grumpy, racist Captain who turns tail at the first sign of danger? No, not really.

I'd imagine there would be a lot of transfer requests if Shaw was THAT big of a dick. Hell, Seven seemed to at least tolerate him, and she's not afraid to call someone out on some bullshit when applicable (Janeway, Ransom, Burke...)

Shaw may have been a dick to Seven, but there's no evidence he treated any of the rest of his crew that way.

Shaw gets absolutely wrecked by the Changelings It'll be interesting to see if he makes it through the rest of the season.

Shaw's great. I mean, he told them what happens when they get together and try to save the galaxy, and whaddaya know, shit got fucked. But hey, the TNG crew is back together, and Seven got to tell him her name is Seven a few times, so...

I must say there is more to him than meets the eye and unfortunately won't get explored in Picard. He's very perplexing, he was crying his eyes out in Dominion...some past trauma beyond what he told Picard in the holodeck? he sort of sits in the "Discovery bridge officer" mould as episodes have went on, sort of there but not there, doesn't feel like a leader of his own ship.

He's not had his hero moment and I really don't think he is going to get one. Which makes me think he's not actually going to survive this season.

Make a Titan-A show, kill off Shaw, make Seven captain. Perhaps replace the ship with the Titan-class from STO and lit interiors.

After seeing "Surrender" I'm somehow even less enthused about a Shaw series than I was already. No mean feat, that.

As ever, each to their own.

In fairness, stuff hits the fan when you foil someone's nefarious plans... in this instance, the TNG crew stumbled upon a major plan to destroy the Federation (or something to that effect) with SF compromised thoroughly as is.. and if they hadn't interfered, the Federation would have indeed been destroyed.

Not sure what Shaw would have preferred in that case. A Federation that was under Changeling's control or a completely wiped out Federation?

And for crying out loud, upgrade the ship.
Give it a decent hull and defensive systems along with upgraded/modern inner lining of the warp nacelles.

Random cruelty is random and cruel.
Okay, promote him to admiral and he can have witty view screen cameos.

Embrace the 25th century. Quantum slipstream drive, ablative armor, transphasic torpedoes, nanite-infused regenerative hull, deployable tactical combat drone. NCC-80102-B.

The character has taken a bit of a back seat these last few episodes as the TNG cast is slowly re-introduced. Nonetheless, a spin-off with Shaw would be fun, but just need to make sure he ends this season on a cordial relationship with our TNG heroes, IMO, sort of a scene akin to Sisko talking to Picard at the end of The Emissary.

They are on a similar arc, except Sisko's was wrapped up by the end of the pilot and Shaw's is taking 10 episodes.

Star Trek has had 8 live action series, 3 animated series , 1 vignette series, and a bunch of movies. It's now had a kid's show, a comedy, and 2 or 3 talk shows. It's had serial and episodic formats.

but it hasn't had a game-show.

"You Didn't Earn This!" The wacky new 25th century game show series, live from Chicago with your host Captain Shaw.

See, I could have gotten onboard with THAT being the Titan-A (and good work on the specs).
Same ship, same class, just nicely upgraded.
That seems like an evolution of the Luna class.

Also, I find it odd that the Titan is only up to 'A' while VOY by this time is supposedly up to 'B' iteration... and they're both about 20 years apart... but then again, it's possible the VOY-A gets heavily damaged or something during (or at the end of) events of ST: Prodigy...
