What ships will we see in the Starfleet Museum?

Yeah, my understanding was there were only 12 or 13 depending on how you interpret the line "There are only 12 ships like her" in regards to the Enterprise.

As long as I have been a Trek fan, including in the original Star Trek Encyclopedia, it referred to the "Original 12 Constitutions"

In the footnotes of that article, there are three more lists based on their own uncertainties in production.

Definitive list as utilized at the start of TOS Season 2 Enterprise Exeter Excalibur Lexington Yorktown Potemkin Republic Hood Constitution[5] Kongo[5] Constellation Farragut Valiant Intrepid

Ah, that's the first Shatnerverse book, Ashes of Eden struck from my headcanon.
The Enterprise-A didn't meet a fiery end. It got patched up after Khitomer and displayed in the museum.

Shame really, I didn't care for the series the longer it went on... but I maybe would've liked that first story semi-canon of sorts, as the Star Trek VII Shatner proposed...

Weirdly Ashes of Eden basically became Insurrection thematically with it's planet with a fountain of youth, and now The Return seems to be echoing in Picard with its graverobbing a corpse to use as a weapon.

Just an observation, as I'm otherwise really enjoying the season. How official onscreen Trek might one day try to address Kirk's death (or potential resurrection) after Generations, was always not going to be beholden to anything in the novels. Indeed even more easier to dismiss than two decades' worth of TNG books.

Kirk was speaking in the present tense. So that doesn't mean there weren't more built after that episode, and there could have been others before that were destroyed or lost.

That seems way longer than it should be.

Unless I missed something.
Some of them are from the Operation Retrieve mission plans seen in the ST6 Director's Cut.

They were represented with a Connie Refit icon and Mike Okuda confirmed they were intended to be connies.

You would be correct. The footnotes area states that they resolved his comment as only twelve active at any one time.

That line just says "there are", that doesn't mean they never were more than 12 or that there never will be more than 12.
What if they originally build 30, by the time of TOS 24 of those had been destroyed or decommissioned due to heavy damage and 6 of the second batch had entered service with many more still under construction?

That makes no sense. If I say "I have to cats" does that mean I have only two at any one time?

And what if the fleet at the time was only Constitutions and every time one was destroyed a new one stepped in to take it's place?

In the old novels the Yorktown was the only other TOS Connie to return to Spacedock intact so that could have been the route they went with this ship. Although that brings up the whole "if the 1701-A is a renamed Yorktown does that mean THAT ship was a new build and not very old and thus the second Yorktown" argument that is rarely worth the time and trouble of getting into.
Was the Yorktown the original name in the series bible? I should know this. But if it was, all the more cool.

Sure, but I said, "mentioned during TOS." Because it would have more of a connection for us TOS viewers.

I wasn't saying that the existence of the New Jersey was impossible.
I know.

I wish TOS had mentioned all 12. Black mark against the show.

That’s okay. Roddenberry surmised there would be only 6 active Galaxy class ships and 6 in reserves. Yet in DS9 fleet battles there was easily 5 of them in 1 shot on screen, so I wouldn’t be so hung up on 12 in the fleet from Kirk for Connie either.
