Spoilers Picard Season 3 Soundtrack News

The music is awesome, with some great references to certain prior things..There's a definite specific feel to it. And that's all that can be said yet..
I hope the theme is better than in S2...

The new theme is the supposed to be "Rise of the Titan"... you can hear a short bit of it at the end of the last three trailers when STAR TREK PICARD appears on the screen. Most of the actual credits (guest stars etc) are supposed to be at the end of each episode (if you've seen the Amazon Prime seasons of The Expanse you'll get a visual of what I mean). And apparently the end credits preview the next episode, which Robert Meyer Burnett found to be sometimes too spoiler-y. So if that worries you, skip the end credits.
Glad the previews at the end are back!

There are several great callbacks in the first 2 episodes already.
The end credits are the best I've ever seen.

Apparently we will also be getting some musical references to the movies Star Trek: IV and IV via callbacks to work by composers Cliff Eidelman (IV) and Leonard Rosenman (VI), as well as the cues from Goldsmith and Horner which we already know about. :bolian:

I can’t wait to spot them. :D

I hope that we also get some subtle Berman era references to the likes of Jay Chataway, Dennis McCarthy, David Bell and Paul Baillargeon etc but I guess they can save that for a spin-off as we do not want musical sensory overload. It would be especially good to hear updated versions of the Voyager Borg themes from Dark Frontier and Scorpion one day.

As much as I love the music from that era and those composers, I do not want the score for Picard season 3 to simply be a musical patchwork quilt of previous material. I want new themes and new music overall that is equally compelling.

All of the memberries I’m hearing about make me a little concerned that it’s all going to be a patchwork of things we’ve seen before. I really hope I’m wrong about that.

There are around ten hours of sonic wallpaper with the odd peppering of the bombastic and pomp that the composers and musicians needed to blast out for this show. I don’t mind an intricate patchwork of legacy inspired music combined with new and original scores - we need a new generation of inspirational and memorable musicians and composers with their own original ideas that we can enjoy listening to just as much as we enjoy listening to what has come before and inspired their work. There definitely needs to be more new material than the derivative, or they would be paying far too much in royalty fees to the musicians unions and guilds instead of spending the dollar on new talent which is cheaper. I would imagine that many of us want to binge listen to some high quality music recognisable as ‘Star Trek’ , yet with it still being new and originally inspired, giving new musicians and artists the chance to be truly creative with Star Trek whilst still honouring its past and making a name for themselves. Definitely pepper in some Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner though to make it sound authentic. :D

Picard season 1 and 2 did not have many binge listening qualities besides the last few tracks of the season 2 album (Where you Belong/The Travellers/Guardian at the Gate/Second Chances). The Prodigy soundtrack peaks at times, btw.

*Still* waiting on the Strange New Worlds release.

Already got it. There is far more to this album than First Contact inspired music though. I cannot wait to hear what the second half of the season brings too.
LaForges and Invisible Rescue were heard in this week’s episode, and they were phenomenal.

I liked Giacchino’s scores for the movies, but Barton has been just as good.

I will add it to my Star Trek playlist when it's released, but I'm excited to listen to the music again. This has been a really good season in terms of Music, even if there is a lot of it that has been used before.

I haven’t been that impressed with the score since the season premiere but I’ll still get this. Sometimes the score is buried by the rest of the sound for me so I don’t always catch the music that much. It’ll be nice to hear the music by it’s self.
