It was rather forced at the end though. Just a hand hold. If they go forward with the Shaw series after s3 they can develop a relationship with Shaw. Yes, both Raffi and Seven. Star Trek can explore a three way relationship and push the boundaries.

I think the overall concensus is that Shaw lead series would be what a good number of fans want. Heck, over at TrekCore they have a dedicated section in their reviews just for Captain Shaw.

Shaw was unconscious/high on painkillers for quite a while. What if the situation with the Shrike required the Titan to autodestruct? A ship can't autodestruct without it's skipper. Would it be prudent for Riker (or whoever else had the conn) to run down to Sickbay, ask the doctor to wake Shaw up, then request him put in his command codes for autodestruct? What if he didn't transfer his command codes, and (while high as fuck), attempted to put in his codes to autodestruct? Granted, you need two or so other officers to put their codes in too, but trying to shut a high as fuck Shaw down in the midst of a conflict is a waste of resources and time. Shaw made the right decision giving his command codes to Riker.
I think the fact Discovery was canceled is the sign the show was not working and they now have money freed up for a post s3 Picard show with Shaw.
I think it's a sign that DIscovery was the most expensive and it made sense to cut that one to save costs. This doesn't free up money as Paramount and other streaming platforms are currently loosing money significantly.

I strongly feel that the fans willed SNW into reality due to the strong fan outcry for a show with Pike and Spock, and Discovery being what it was probably drove the point home harder. He was to many fans authentic trek they remebered, in a new style trek show that they did not like as much. If fans show enough passion for Shaw, Seven, Jack, and the rest of the Titan crew perhaps we can have such a series.
The sad fact is the Titan bridge crew is more fleshed out in 6 episodes than the Discovery bridge crew. And that's sad.
It came out of nowhere. They had just met. Also 7 could have done better. Raffi seems too old for her.

The typical scene on the Titan's bridge consists of the bald Vulcan spewing technobabble, followed by the Bajoran guy staring dramatically, and then Sydney La Forge reminds everyone who her dad is. Aside from Shaw and Seven, no one on that bridge is a character
Seven and Raffi holding hands was literally thought up by Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd the very moment the scene was being filmed, which is why it seems to "come out of nowhere."

In-universe Seven is actually 9 years older than Raffi.

This argument right here is why I can't take this seriously. Discovery is just as authentic and the fact that it doesn't hit the nostalgic feels is not bad.
It's really not because the Bridge crew were not main characters. Discovery is like TOS, where we know the mains, and bits about the secondary characters according to the plot. Otherwise, they are like Mr. Leslie from TOS.

Appearances can be deceiving. I've been guessed at 50 while my wife gets carded.
When Shaw was wounded, he was barfing up blood (later shown to be due to internal injuries) and had a compound leg fracture. I suppose he should have just stayed there and bled out in the chair while giving crazy orders due to blood loss.

Otherwise, how does one go from using a cane and being high on painkillers to being fresh as a daisy two eps later?
