I mean, that is a connection but it’s kinda weak.

It's nostalgia powered so it's no longer weak.

Okay, I might be showing my age, but calling 1996 "nostalgic" just feels wrong. :p

Yeah. Though I'm sure I read a comment from Picardo shortly after Pic season 1 aired (or was in full swing) where he said he'd been approached for Season 3. There wasn't as much context then, because I don't think they'd confirmed 2 and 3 at that point, let alone that they were filming them back to back.

I got the impression that it was a minor rumbling, and we didn't hear anything else from him after that. I'm assuming that the writers had a role for him in the season, it's just whether or not he accepted.

I’d love more crossover between the shows, but it is a strength they have their own identity

Yes, more crossover from all shows both old and new. Nothing wrong with crossovers.
Season 2 of Strange New Worlds has a crossover with The Lower Decks, so why can’t Picard or the next 25th century continuation series have a Prodigy crossover?

Because it’s set after Prodigy. Unless they do a time travel story

The same could be true of S2, with the anomaly and the Borg guardians. That one could be followed up in a Titan/Seven Of Nine or Fenris Rangers series.

At this point they spent most of 3 episodes wandering around the nebula, and with only 5 episodes left, it seems like a short time to get a decent resolution.

They could easily have one of the characters. No need for a time travel....Unless you think they won't live to see 2401?

It would lock the prodigy writers into having to make sure the character reaches that point.
With time travel that wouldn’t happen.

It would put a limit on what they can do with the character(s) in their series. That’s a bad thing creatively.

Unless the crossover was co-written by someone from prodigy.

No, time travel would not be required because….
Prodigy characters could appear as ‘present day’ older versions of themselves. For example, Bret Gray is actually 26, potentially he could play an older Dal in the 25th century. Also, Zero would still be CGI in a live action show and probably alive dependent on Medusan lifespans, as would the other characters. Murf could even make a cameo. Pog?

Naw. Unless they were planning on killing them all by end of Prodigy, it shouldn't be an issue. It's possible the tptb of Prodigy already plans to kill off one of them. They might drop a mention to Picard folks who not to use.

That wasn't my issue with it.

Then like you said, a Prodigy writer could be involved then, there would have to be coordination between writers rooms for continuity reasons and character familiarity. I am sure that SNW did this with the Lower Decks team?

Opinions from people I know IRL. They don't post here. Almost all my Trekkie friends are only TNG Fans. Almost. There are some exceptions. Here's what they think:

My brother is a huge Niner, kind of likes Disco, likes the animated shows, really likes SNW & PIC Season 1, and thought PIC Season 2 was stupid. He loves PIC Season 3.

One of my friends, who work with me on independent film projects, is also mainly a TNG Fan, grew up in a Trekkie Family, but isn't a fan of Kurtzman Trek, except for SNW, and she also loves PIC Season 3; telling me about how the show is finally good.

Sometimes it's good to hear from people I don't know online. Makes it feel more "real", it that makes sense.
