Interestingly, Beltran was offered a role in Picard (unknown which season), but he declined. He is enthusiastic about the direction his character is taken in Prodigy, though.

Curious. Aside from being missing, his character hasn't really taken any kind of meaningful "direction" that I'm aware of. I think his total sum amount of dialogue this past season has yet to exceed 60 seconds. Maybe 120 on the outside.
Glad he didn't take the Picard gig. There are more than enough VOY callbacks floating around as it is right now across PIC & PRD (and some in LDS & DSC to a lesser extent).

There will be more Chakotay in S2, Kate Mulgrew has also alluded to this. The resolution of the Chakotay-Janeway storyline is likely what Beltran is referring to (at least in part). On Picard, it would more likely have involved Seven in some way, and probably not in a very positive way.

Meh. Brief cameo probably wasn't worth it. I don't see the issue though.
I think Beltran will not like the association - as an actor - with this particular role. And also, that he likely has issues with the Seven/Chakotay last minute thing of Voyager, and that he probably greatly prefers the relationship between Chakotay and Janeway. Prodigy will explore the latter.
I think it's a good choice from the actor to stay away from the double association with a pretty bad Voyager storyline and with Picard's Confederation, even though it is a alternate universe (but then, so is his timeline in Prodigy, in a certain sense).
So since DIS is being pushed back to 2024 for them to reshoot and give the series a proper finale, Do you think Prodigy will air all of S2 (20 episodes) this year or do you think they'll break it up into parts again? cause after Picard airs on April 19. that'll leave us 36 weeks left of the year and 40 episodes of trek remaining. (10 episodes of SNW, 10 episodes of LD and 20 for PRO).
I mean...it's an acting job. I see no issues with it, but apparently others do.
I wouldn't have recoiled in disgust had Chakotay shown up and referenced his romance with Seven but at the same time that plot thread in VOY never made sense and was even more awkward and boring than Troi and Worf in Season 7 of TNG. I'm glad they didn't do this.
Patrick Hageman said, in one of the recent-ish interviews out on Youtube, that he thought we would get the first 10 episodes of S2 during 2023 (S2A, say, as the Hagemans clearly think in terms of 10-episode arcs and the official seasons are very much a legal thing to limit the rise of the wages of a number of people involved with the production, something which may have been a factor in the cancellation of Discovery).
So the back 10 (S2B) are far less certain to also be broadcast in 2023. Especially now that Paramount+ is cutting costs, so they may have to spread out the remaining content that is still being produced.
I hope that Prodigy also being on regular TV through Nickolodeon may help it survive this round of cost cutting, but we have no idea how it is doing on that network.

That's late and probably means S2B will only air in 2024, but not unexpected with P+ spreading out its content.
Somewhat disturbing: SNW has been renewed (we knew this already) but according to this, Lower Decks as well. However, no such indication for Prodigy.
It may be too early for PRO.
Aaron Waltke was asked by a number of people on Twitter, and his answers indeed come down to that. For example:
Still, I hope they at least quietly got an order (partial funding) to start preparations of season 3, like breaking the story over 20 episodes and maybe ordering the first 5 or 10 scripts, so at least the writer's room can reconvene and everything would be ready to start production once/if the final green light is given.
Waltke also had another interesting response on Twitter (in response to a question whether or not Prodigy is canon, as the person who asked that question found it hard to imagine that Picard and Prodigy play in the same universe/continuity:
Someone noted that Starfleet vessels talking to one another is something taken from Prodigy's S1 final. But maybe there will be more links to Prodigy in Picard S3.
He also promised even better CGI in S2. While Prodigy's animation is fantastic, more constant quality or more ambitious setpieces (as far as decor etc goes) would be good. Hopefully S2 will make good on his promise.
The announcement of the Starfleet Academy series actually going into production doesn't sound like very good news for Prodigy's chances. With P+ having to cut costs, greenlighting a new series will use budget that can't be used on another show in its place. Moreover, there is also some similarity in the premise, which could also lead to Prodigy getting restrictions in what it can and can't do (even if it continues past S2) if P+ doesn't want to thread the same ground twice. The new series could potentially take Prodigy's slot in the rotation of ST shows on P+, if they feel it would have similar appeal.
Of course Starfleet Academy will likely be much cheaper to be made than Discovery S6 would have been (due to actors wages, more CGI, less bottle shows,...), but there may not be much room for Prodigy if Picard S3 also gets a form of continuation (Legacy or something else that continues live action in the 24th/25th centuries) or if the Section 31 series gets the go-ahead, finally. With Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds renewed, if one of those potential series also gets ordered in the near future, the only way remaining to save money (other than the difference in cost between Discovery and Starfleet Academy) would be to axe Prodigy.
