Spoilers Would anyone be opposed to Odo showing in Picard

Only if he were played by Remy Auberjonois.

Yes he does have a great similarity to his Father so yes I'd be okay with him as Odo too! In fact I suspected a return of the character after the third episode of Picard's fantastic intrigue! :techman:

Not really.
I would love to see fanart of Odo, the EMH from the backup module, Guinan, Daniels and I dunno, Trelane, hanging out with Michael Burnham at a space cafe. (Not Space Nighthawks)

I mean there would be precedent, Bones and Scotty were both recast for the Kelvin timeline stories long after their respective actors had passed away.

But that was a reboot with everyone recast. Feels different, I think it would feel somewhat gauche to recast a dead actor in the same continuity for the sake of a brief appearance.

We've already seen a photo of Odo onscreen on a PADD in Picard. That's enough of a nod for me.
Let Rene forever be associated with his iconic Star Trek role, don't dilute his legacy.

They've recast Spock like six times. And Odo is a shapeshifter, so why couldn't he look different? Wouldn't even require fanwank. "I look like this now because I can."

Having said that I am aggressively uninterested in seeing Odo, or any Changeling really, on Picard.
He fought the Hirogen, he's dealing with Changeling infiltrators, next is he going to punch a Xindi-Reptilian in its smug mouth? Maybe he can negotiate an end to the Temporal Cold War or deal with... whoever the villain species in DIS is.

Well, at least Nimoy was still around to confirm he was ok with the idea of Spock being recast (the first time anyway).

But I suppose Strange New Worlds is a counter-example to all of this, given Majel Barrett, Booker Bradshaw, and of course Jeffrey Hunter are long gone. Maybe my reaction is just one of 'too soon'.

The thing with the Hirogen actually happened, according to PIC Season 3 and the plot is about rogue changelings

Hell yeah! Fan wank FTW!

Six? I haven't been keeping close enough track. NuTrek and Disco... are there more Spocks out there?

I wouldn't oppose it, and I like the idea of his son carrying on the legacy. Kind of like Lon Chaney Jr. kind of thing.
