Am I the only one here who listens to this?? Every Tuesday night… Trekland Tuesday!?

I don’t have any links to this podcast though sorry, so you will have to find it yourself, Trekland Tuesday is on various social media platforms、 not TrekBBS unless @EricF wants to launch an option for a premium live streaming service which TrekBBS bloggers can subscribe to? This show is *definitely* worth a listen to though for old skool Star Trek fans. :techman:

I think that it would be good to get a thread going on here about it so we can discuss some of the topics that pop up? Who’s in? This thread could quite happily die if I am the only listener though… let’s see.

What is it about?
Larry Nemecek talks about Star Trek, but from his unique perspective of having being involved with the franchise during the 1990’s in various capacities. I think that Larry also made the coffee at one point, which is why Picard settled on Earl Grey. I also collected all of the Star Trek Fact Files when I was a child so remember his name from that, as well as from the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion which I also had.

Larry’s show is about *anything* Star Trek. You ask a question and he talks about it as long as it is sensible. So back to your original question “what is it about?” Well, it is about… Star Trek! :techman:

Larry is a journalist by training. He was the editor of Star Trek Communicator, and as such, he has interviewed people throughout the franchise. Much of that has been spun off from his behind the scenes access into other projects, like the TNG Companion and Stellar Cartography. He also penned an episode of Voyager. He does several podcasts and is regular guest on several others. Trekland Tuesdays is a 90-120 stream. He reacts to news or talks about trends in the production or Fandom, and he takes questions from viewers. The discussion ranges from current episodes, the people who work on Trek, and convention culture. The stream is particularly enjoyable if you are interested in hearing about the franchise from the perspective of writers and below the line production rather than actors.

I really enjoy Larry 's shows, but should all parts of the forum be opened up to discussing individual podcasts on a regular basis? A dedicated forum to podcasts might be nice. Certainly, anyone should feel free to reference anything learned in a podcast. However, I cringe at the idea of threads dedicated to the likes of Nerdrotic all over the place.

When I can, yes!

Or share what its about, or examples of topics. Feels like a drive by advertising ;)
It doesn't always focus on news, it's about a topic of the day. Sometimes it's about how fans perceive things about a certain Era, or recently, about the Save Enterprise fan campaign. There are no hot takes, it's a "historians" view and discussion.

Here's an edited episode of the topic portion

The one thing I would ask him about is if he has any more rare behind-the-scenes photos of the Star Trek model kits/kitbashes used in TNG and DS9. In the past he posted some pics of the USS Trial and the Ertl tug Judy Elkins built for DS9’s “A Time to Stand.”

I’ll ask him next week if you want? Or you could ask yourself. :p

I enjoyed listening to the story of how Larry first watched Best of Both Worlds, I never realised how ground breaking this story was at the time. I first watched Best of Both Worlds on the BBC after school when I was younger… it literally was the coolest thing that I had ever seen, I did not expect it to be so good as I thought that it would just be another standard episode, though I did remember the Borg from Q-Who so as soon as they were mentioned my excitement levels peeked. My previous favourite episodes before this were Sins of a Father and Evolution. I think that the epic and timeless BOBW soundtrack played a big part in delivering this story… arguably the best score in TNG?

How/where did you first watch Best of Both Worlds? Apparently the writers did not even plan it out! They wrote part one and had no idea how to finish the story, part two did seem like a bit of an anti climax to me at the time though, a bit of a rush job after boxing themselves in to a corner?

Watched part 1 and then wasn't allowed to watch part 2! (I was a nasty kid, apparently, and my parents used tv bans as punishment)
