If the changeling's are involved then they need to involve Odo in some way. Also I would love for the ramifications of this season to be the outbreak of a second Dominion War.
At last, someone else caught on. I've been hinting that Riker is really Tom for a few day now, waiting for someone to bite.
He's been acting odd and there are a few clues that suggest he's not Will. I think the Flashback in episode 3 is the only time we've seen the one true Will Riker this season.
So I'm not the only one who thought this!
The mis-remembering of Rigel VII in 3x01, his bizarre sense of humor over "Crash' LaForge, up and leaving the wife and daughter he clearly loved in S1... Every so often it seems like they've been dropping little hints that something isn't quite right with Riker.
If it is Tom Riker, do you think Picard knows? It'd be really reckless on the Admiral's part, but getting him to attack the Shrike could be a way of seeing if "Riker" is who he says he is. If Picard knows that Will Riker would never do that even under duress and manipulation from the situation and Picard, and even if he did, as captain Will would take responsibility for the action failing.

He's avoiding people Wil has a history with so he won't blow his cover.
He doesn't want Deanna around.
He picks the Titan for his ruse. A place where the only old friend they can work is Seven, someone Picard knows, not Wil.
He disarms Syndey LaForge by being a dick. Now she's too embarrassed to come around asking for stories about her dad. Reminds me of "I have nothing to say to you, o'Brien."
What's his angle? Just wants to take the Titan, a piece of Will's old life? I don't know.

It was never stated onscreen what age Thad was when he died, but I think Chabon’s intention was for him to be around 15. So it’s been roughly 5 years by the time of S3.
But I suppose they could change the timing if they wanted.
It also doesn't work because it's Riker who works out where they are suppose to go based on knowledge of being on the Enterprise during TBOBWs.
It's just a deadend - this show is not a mystery box. The Riker arc is how he reconciles with the Troi and comes to terms with the death of his son.
The show hits you over the head with where the stories are going.
They say he would have turned 18 the week before in season 1 and I think he was supposed to have died when he was 15/16. If that was in 2399 and this season is in 2401, then I guess it's been around 5 or 6 years.
With all the suffering and death from the Battle of the Ryton Nebula I don't see Shaw pulling punches in court martial/tribunal testimony, and he shouldn't. Riker/Picard/Seven hijacked the ship on a personal mission to rescue Picard's ex-girlfriend and son and got half his crew bleeding to a pulp in sickbay, including Shaw himself. Michael Burnham was sentenced to life imprisonment over less in Discovery. The worst part is that if Picard and Riker had just hired a private ship (like Picard did in Season 1), all those people wouldn't have been hurt.
That's why all these people saying that Riker can't be a changeling should be hoping he is. Because I don't see Riker having a life in Starfleet again after this, much less commanding a ship. At least a changeling impostor would clear Riker, and as for Picard and Seven they might get off more leniently if their defense can claim they were fooled by a changeling into acting the way they did.
I think the cameo is going to be Odo. The antagonists are Changelings, and Worf has already mentioned being in contact with Odo, and everyone who's seen it has been saying they never thought we'd see this character again.

I doubt it will be Odo out of respect to Rene Auberjonois. Also it being a character no one thought they would see again could literally be the entire cast of DS9 given modern trek eschewing that part of the trek universe. I think it will be a character more tied to Worf like Dax
Plus you can have Dax appear with an entirely new actor...
Jazia/Ezra-some-Dax could fit with the "“maybe 2 (characters), or is it 3 or 4…” from TrekCore review

I should correct myself, Jessie Gender said in her initial review of episodes 1 - 6 that it's a DS9 actor she never thought she would see again in the franchise. This bit of info has since been edited out of the review .
So whoever the character is, it's played by the same actor who we last say playing the character.
Bashir's dad it is! (And I've just realised the actor was only 13 years older than Alexander Siddig!).
