Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I don't know. I feel like TOS did closer to that with Kirk and Spock as the protagonists, and the other secondary characters providing some measure of flavor, but not needed.

Early Season 1 of TOS sort of went back and forth between "The Adventures of Captain Kirk" and a more ensemble vibe (Uhura notably got more to do in early Season 1 than later, Rand was fleshed out fairly well, etc.) Still, once Gene Coon took the reins, it became the recognizable Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic.

Paperwork and red tape. It slows everything down.
Don't forget the Xindi crisis from 2153 to 2154, the babel crisis of 2154, the romulan war from 2156 to 2160, the Klingon War of 2256-2257, the Red Angel/Control conflict, The second Klingon War in 2266 (or was it '67?), the Cardassian war, the third Klingon War (pre-dominion war), the Dominion War, both borg incursions. so yeah in the 200 years the federation has been several conflicts that limited their exploration. If you think about it Voyager was actually the only ship that actually did any exploring per its mandate.

After 200 years and dozens of Starships, it's only 15% explored? :wtf:

What have they been doing all this time? :shifty:
Well, if there are 100 billion stars in the milky way, that means there are 250 million per quadrant. Not all have life, or are even interesting, but if even a quarter are of interest, that still leaves 62 million stars of interest, and within distance of Earth, probably a million atleast.
Have they all atleast had a probe sent? maybe. Actual ship in system to chart? 15% is charitable.

People travel across quadrants on VACATION ("Bye, honey! Me and the boys are going fishing on Talos Four!")

I still think a nice season would've been Picard and Laris' growing relationship and other characters (old and new) coming to the Estate to meet with Picard and ask for advice.

Picard would've been someone akin to Nero Wolfe (he would've have had the entire galaxy showing up at his estate and asking his advice on solving intractable problems).

I was just thinking how nice it would be to have a cameo from Dwight Schulz at some point in this season. I’ve so much time for Reg as a character and I’d love to know where he’s at in life now.

I don’t think for a second we will, it would just be cool imo.
