Spoilers Season 3 wild speculation

I speculate Raffi will call Picard J.L. again, and I'll love it.

And Riker's eyebrows will raise and he'll turn to Picard afterwards and say "JL? *I* never got to call you JL! Maybe I should start calling you JL..." and then some time later he'll introduce him as Admiral JL Picard to someone and Picard can give him one of those rigid, disapproving, sour expressions again :)

I would love that. I love Grumpy Cinnamon Roll Jean-Luc glaring at people. I would also perhaps suggest that his expression would be more exasperated like "oh God, what have I done to deserve this former first officer" tho. Either way tho, it would be cute. :D

A review I read says Shaw was a young crewman on one of the ships attacked by the Borg with Picard as Locutus and survived. He comes from a blue collar background and apparently rose through the ranks. He also has a drinking problem and a hatred of the Borg and probably PTSD.

What if Vadic is the daughter of the female Romulan commander from TOS? They did say this season ties into TOS in an unexpected way….

That tweet from Gates mentioning enemies keep trying to "take" Jack Jr. What is it about him that's so valuable?

If he is indeed Picard's son, then I suspect there's something Borgy about his DNA that makes him some kind of genetic goldmine (immortality, maybe -- also why the DNA strand is in the credits). There's a reason the opening scene had Picard's log from BoBW playing (i.e. "Captain's log, stardate 43996.2. The Enterprise remains concealed in the dust cloud. And to my surprise, the Borg have maintained their position, waiting for us to come out of hiding. I have no explanation for their special interest in me or this ship."). I feel like we're going to get a retcon about them seeing Picard as a perfect genetic match for assimilation or something like that. He wasn't just their spokesperson.

I'll just say here for the record that I really hope the big bad is somehow rooted in a mistake that Starfleet made, and preferably a mistake Picard made as well.

Something like the antagonist being remnants of the Maquis surly about the Federation betraying them, or the Founders wanting revenge for attempted genocide, would be great.

On the other hand, if it's something like a return of the Conspiracy parasites...that would be absolutely awful! That's a deep-dive memberberry which doesn't really raise any tough questions about past actions by the characters. It's just a "hey, we referenced a thing!"

I'm actually fine not seeing the Conspiracy parasites again.

To me, it always seemed like the Borg replaced the parasites as the "pending invasion force"... and they made for a much more interesting story that the cloak-and-dagger boredom of "Conspiracy".
